From May 2017 to May 2019 I was (lead-) editor for 3 Dutch car magazines. Since 2003 I write about car culture because I enjoy it. As from 2019 I now and then do some freelance work.

Mercedes SL400

Mercedes 190 Ponton

Mercedes 190D & 190E 2.6

Mercedes Benz SL400 & AMG SLC 43:

My review in the August edition of SL Mercedes Revue. Luxury Roadsters with plenty of poke: 370 brake / 500 NM biturbo 3 litre V6 in a pretty 1.600 kgs shell. I'd opt for the slightly bigger SL. Almost twice the price tag and without the AMG's drama antics.

Are you sure about the photo captions?
I think one of the cars is a 190 ponton whilst another is a 190E 2.6.

Alfa Romeo Spider 2000 (1977) afternoon:

I've never driven two so totally different Spiders - both 1977 2000s - in my life. Green US spec car converted to Eu spec and on Dell'Ortos and a white Eu spec on Solex carbs.

Tomorrow: cabrio Beetle and 911.

Stiffer US Spider: more confident in a straight line but I prefer the EU spec wobbly car. It just works better negotiating corners.

Mercedes 190D & 190E 2.6 boring? Hardly. A Bruno Sacco masterpiece - baby Benz - and try to find a good one today. Diesel is a gem and the 2.6 is quicker than you might think.

Diesel (l) is not quick but won't fail to deliver in comfort and 45 mpg economy.

2.6

From the era when MB built proper cars.

These guys import 150 cars every week.

Intermeccanica Italia, with 327 Corvette V8.

From the USA to NL in a container: four in a box.

Ordinary stuff, Hummers, American Muscle, Sambas, lots of MB and Pork, and the occasional hotrod.

R107 and Pagoda galore.

Truckloads into Europe.

Fun with a G33 Ginetta, 4 litre TVR RV8, 250 brake / 365 Nm. Agile!
