Someone who is respected and frequently speaks his own mind should come forward and say a few comments

David Starky
Lionel Blair
Andrew Neil
Nigel Farage

Have the residents got over what "13 identities" mean yet and after all the pics of the charred flats internals why trinkets or anything to remember them by doesn't exist in that building. Why not it's burnt to dust.

I have a friend who was a senior official of the Electricity Board, and he has been following this with interest. He phoned me today talking about the installation of the new windows a few years back and that they were not set in the concrete structure like before, but projected outwards to the cladding. Apparently there is a video taken by one of the survivors showing smoke coming into the flat from under the window, even though it was shut.

He would take statement from 100 residents of Tower Hamlets who lived in the tower block in Kensington and Chelsea and all 150 of them would blame racism and the Tories for the fire.
hehe

The term of choice these days is 'Tory Scum'
I blame Thatcher.

Apparently the detective leading the investigation has written to residents to tell them that there are "reasonable grounds" to suspect that RB&K council and the TMO may have committed corporate manslaughter

Gees.

That will be interpreted by the residents that there IS definite grounds and they ARE guilty.

That's a big call. There have been relatively few prosecutions since the legislation was introduced.

As no individual can be arrested for corporate manslaughter I can see that going down like a lead balloon with residents.

He is an utter fool. This is Police grandstanding like when they invited the press to their raid on Cliff Richard's home.

There may well be grounds, although I think it's likely to be a big stretch, but to say this to the tenants at this stage is ridiculous.

Will they be looking at whether they can charge Camden Council with something for installing the same cladding on the Chalcotr Estate?

I'm assuming it's not necessarily all about the cladding and could be the gas or could be a combination of factors.

I don't know how usual or unusual it is for that sort of letter/information to go out.

Wonder what happens if at the end of the day it turns out the new Labour MP of the area was complicit in it yet she and labour have been smashing the arse out of Torys "murderers".

Yes I'd say you see that then realise people in it middle of the night it's going to be bad really bad & just pray you can make some sort of difference and save as many loves as possible.

The firemen on TV understandably look very emotional and likely forever haunted by what they saw. It's beyond doubt they gave everything they had in the tank and then Some.

60 blocks fail more rigorous fire safety tests.

Many of which seem to be in Labour council areas (for those making political capital out of the issue)

The Corporate Manslaughter angle.... As I understand it the only penalty is an unlimited fine on the Organisation.

so. Local Authority. Who's going to pay the fine? The Local Residents....
The Tenant Management Committee. I assume this is actually set up as a Ltd Company to manage the building with Leaseholders sat on the Committee as Directors. So the fine would got to the Ltd Company, whose primary asset is a fire damaged tower block. Not gonna be a lot of cash there....

If they can prosecute individuals then go for it. But Corporate Manslaughter against these targets? A bit pointless.

What the article fails to say if whether the cladding failed the Building Regulations standards which were current when the cladding was installed, not any tests against current expectations.

Until that is answered, any reference to prosecutions or political point scoring is premature.
