Two guys interviewed by the BBC said there was definitely 1 fatality and the sun have apparently just stated 2 fatalities. All unconfirmed.

1 man arrested on the scene, witnesses saying 1 or possibly 2 others ran off, again unconfirmed at mo.

Reports of van driver being detained at scene by survivors and handed over to police.

Police there amazingly quick again.

Sounds like a terrorist attack. Just because it's a white lunatic and the victims are Muslim doesn't make it less of a terrorist incident.

And it's just been declared that the Met are treating it as such, let's just hope they investigate
with a slightly more open mind than your opening statement.
Again, let's hope any fatalities and injuries are as minimum as possible.

If anybody is at the scene, would you please ask the people videoing it on their phones to hold the phone in landscape mode - not portrait.

I am absolutely fed up with trying to watch an ongoing event in portrait when my telly is set to landscape.

Thank you.
WHAT !!
People are dead, and all you can worry about as phone orientation

Standards old chap. Standards.

Even under adversity we must maintain standards.

Try telling the spokesman from the MCB, he said it was an attack carried out against innocent Muslims by white supremacists....!

Whatever the prick in the van is, he's only going to increase the likelihood of more Jihadi attacks in Britain.

And is the 22nd on Thursday.

BBC now reporting:

"An eyewitness called Abdul told the BBC he saw a man come out the van "and then he was shouting 'where are all the Muslims? I wanna kill all Muslims.' Literally he said that"."

Another depressing incident.

There was an eyewitness on LBC earlier who claimed the ambulance took an hour to turn up and the chap, who was clearly still shaken up at what he had witnessed, claimed this was because the victims were Muslims and now even the state don't care about them. It's sad that someone would think in such a way.

This 'them and us' mentally that we're increasingly seeing is clearly what the perpetrators of such attacks want to see.

Finsbury Park Mosque has become notorious and so a natural target for extremists on the other side.

Just as with the murder of Jo Cox this is also a terrorist attack and we shouldn't pretend this is all down to "mental illness" or some other excuse.

Am I the only one who woke up and thought "another attack" but wasn't shocked or surprised any more.
Not good.

How can you possibly know they had an opportunity? You do post some drivel, SP. Consistent at least, I suppose.

He's unlikely to have been wearing a bomb belt, fake or real. That's likely to have reduced any need to shoot.
Indeed. The police (and armed forces) are trained to only shoot this considered an active threat - clearly this was the case with the Borough Market attackers, but seemingly not here. I'm sure all will be made clear when a full report is made, but I suppose that's not quick enough for some.

Oh dear. The van is from our village, well known local business. I wonder who the perps will turn out to be, early reports saying one arrested but two managed to flee the scene? Not good frown

Looking at the footage of the guy arrested being detained by locals, kudos to everyone involved. That could easily have turned ugly with him coming to serious harm so you have to admire them for their restraint.
