Didn't look too terrifying to me. Why doesn't the Porsche driver just drive off? Porsche V Scum on a moped I know which one is going to come off worse.
So do I given that there was a car directly in front, another behind and one coming the other way. Or did you expect him to levitate?

time to allow handguns again.
Let's think about that in this scenario shall we?

Knowing many potential targets might be armed, the moped gang go armed themselves. Instead of pointing a knife in the window, they point a gun. Now who is more likely to come out of this best?

Porsche driver - in a good job, steady family, in his own car with easily traceable registration - everything to lose
Moped gangster - unemployed, absent family, face covered by helmet and riding a stolen moped - nothing to lose

Which is more likely to fire their gun?

So now instead of losing your watch, you lose your life.

Great thinking there hman

Appreciate nobody knows how they will react until put in the situation. Anyone legal know what would happen to the Porsche drive if he had / she had knocked them off and run them over. Could you say self defence as they had knife and feared for you life etc.
This

Waive a knife at me in my car espoeciually if my kids are there I am a) going to be terrified b) not think stright c) be willing to smash my car an others to protect family an myself

so likely I run over you am I going to prison?
With your kids in the car you're going to try and run down TWO mopeds with 4 attackers?

I'd just hand over my (insured) watch and call the police.

I have been a serious victim of moped crime however I think the above illustrates the situation very well.

In South Africa during apartheid (and now to be fair) we know what is causing the problem.

Huge inequality.

As much as we disagree with a South African turning to crime we all understand why and none of us call for their death as we've seen in some posts above.

We call for equality.

I think its no different here in the uk now in 2017. Same cause and same effect.
Hahahahaahahahahahaha

You should be able to defend yourself with lethal force.

They had a knife that direver was at the whim of a criminal who could have stuck it in his neck any second. Driver behind should be allowed to defend him by running them all over then get a medal and a key to the city and a new car paid for by the mayor.

Any survivors deported to wherer sthole they came from.

The Met are more than capable of dealing with this if they get their finger out, just need to avoid accusations of entrapment.

I can't recall the last time I drove in any of our "edgier" cities/towns with anything on display that might have been a temptation for scum.

I've been to London twice in two years, and the last time I was there I was got by one of these!

Had my phone out my hand so quick I didn't even know what had happened. Was quite a professional robbery - until the little turned around and gave me the V's!

Simple answer for many of these, an emergency bylaw prohibiting passengers. Are mopeds really intended for 2 people anyway?
Great idea, nice and simple, helps the police out.

Wont work far too much common sense behind this idea!

No i am going to attempt to drive off an as a result run over 1 of them. As i drive a large 4x4 its possible i might actually be able to drive over a moped (going to fk up my car for sure but also the scum on it) So do i end up in jail if my nearly 3 tonne grand Cherokee drivee over one of them

You really think people brandishing knives and robbing people will care about a bylaw?!

I'm currently quite depressed and angry so luckily for them I don't have a nice Porsche - would have rammed them into the car in front.
Don't bring a knife on a moped to a car crash. smile

They'll get what's coming to them eventually I'm sure. Not sure the Porsche driver could've done much before moving off and perhaps then finding reverse. Maybe the camera car could've helped him out though.

I think the only chance of harm to the moped muggers is pissing themselves with laughter when the powerfully built director types in their 4x4s attempt a 300 point turn to mow down the moped riders.

No these little scum bags think they can get away with anything, but if no one else is 2 up on a scooter it will make it much easier to see them/catch them/run them over whatever.

I can see your point but it won't make a blind bit of difference.
No ones running them over etc after the crime let alone before.

I would have handed over my watch, no bother. There's 3 outcomes here I see:

A) Attempt to drive off, get stuck in traffic, caught up and potentially get stabbed
B) Attempt to run them over, probably get it wrong and potentially get stabbed
C) Hand over watch, "have a nice day sir", report to police & claim on insurance

It's the same when a thread pops up about someone breaking into your house for your car keys. If I come downstairs to find 2-3 masked man waving around baseball bats shouting for my car keys I'm going to hand them over. The other option is to allow them to kick my ass and trash my house searching for them, the whole while my wife and 2 young kids are upstairs.
