I am looking for an app or program (iPhone/Mac) to store secure information such as passwords, account information at more.

I know there are many password vault apps however I am looking for something for more than just passwords. Can anyone recommend an app? And are they actually secure?

KeePass, LastPass, 1Password, DashLane, they each have slightly different features but would almost certainly each do what you've said so far.

Are they secure? Some of them have had vulnerabilities in the past but they're still safer than using the same password for everything.

Lastpass will do this using a feature called Secure Notes. Yo can even add files such as pdfs which I use for storing scans of passports, driving licence, insurance certificates etc.

pretty much every password manager i've ever seen allows you to store an awful lot more than just passwords
what is it you are having difficulty storing, and what have you tried ?

And as for are they secure?
That's like asking is it secure to keep my cash and jewels in a safe?
Of course not, that the first place they'll look

Much better to keep them in a text file in Documents/backups/2011/oldpc/photos/IMG_0005.jpeg
You're valuables that is, not your passwords, they belong on postit notes on your screen

I haven't tried any apps yet - looking for recommendations!

I'm not asking if it's secure to keep my cash and jewels in a safe. I'm asking if the Safe Space travel lock space for under 30 quid from Amazon is going to keep them safe or if I need to buy the Burton Atlas Grade 6 for a cool 11 grand to get decent protection.

A postit note on the screen is not good - easy for anyone in the office to see and isn't too helpful when a) don't always have computer and b) often on the road

I can recommend 1Password - multiplatform, family sharing (if needed), it just works. Been using it for 7 or 8 years. Stores passwords, logins, bank details, debit and credit cards, identities, software licences, passport details, driving licences, free form notes....

The only time it struggles is with logins that ask you for the 3rd, 5th, 7th character of your password. Apart from that, all good.

You probably want to be looking at one of the ones I mentioned (LastPass, Dashlane, 1Password) as they have apps and sync across devices.

You can lash something together with KeePass and DropBox and arguably you have more control of your data but it's certainly not as integrated as the others.

I find LastPass quite good. Installed the Chrome addon on my PC so if I want I can log in to Lastpass and then have bookmarks there that will launch and autofill the password details, od it can show you the login name and password for you to type in. Phone app works well on Android and can be set to authenticate on a finger print. As others have said it also has a secure notes thing so you can store other details.

If you've got files you want to keep secure then consider something like BitLocker to encrypt a hard drive or USB key.
