This is sad to me. They were one of my favourites when I was about 14. Rip.

Hybrid Theory is a belter.

Just giving hybrid theory a quick listen and the lyrics feel much darker now :-(

Another sad loss for music. The first album blew me away.

Can't remember the year but they played Reading Festival and my younger brother and his mates went off to see some band in a small tent because "Linkin Park is too commercial dude". They missed out on one of the best sing along Reading sets by any band I've seen there over the years. The crowd pretty much drowned out the band. Turns out the band my brother and his mates went to see was rubbish, they were gutted.

Crazy stuff, obviously a pretty tormented soul with a history of alcohol and drug use. Hell of a talent gone and what a shame he got to the point of killing himself.

In the end is possibly one of my favourite songs of all time and it'll not sound the same after today.

Really liked this band back along, such ashame a talent lost and six children without their Dad. RIP Chester.

So sad. Hybrid Theory is a hugeky iconic albumn for me. One of my favourites. Saw them live several times and they were phenomenal. Chester had an astounding voice. Loved his cover of Adele too. Very sad.

Saw them about 9 years ago in Milton Keynes when jay-z.

Great band, excellent front man and a pretty big following. I haven't been keen since they changed musical direction when mike shinoda and Chester decided they wanted to save the world but they're earlier stuff was first class.

They just released a new album, which got terrible reviews - I haven't heard any of it, but it seems that they went cheesy pop or something.

Not really a fan of Linkin Park, but that is no age. RIP. Being a rock front man seems to be an unhappy profession.

I'm 29 so their early albums were a big thing for me, Hybrid Theory is one of the best debut albums of all time IMO.

I saw them in France only a month ago and he looked so happy - what a shame frown

Genuinely a bit gutted, got Meteora on now, also a superb album

They headlined Leeds and Reading in 2003

Saw them a couple of weeks ago at the O2, they were amazing and was blown away by just how good Chester was... definitely more of a fan of their older stuff, but the new stuff ain't half bad either...

RIP Chester

As said, quite a shock, and it makes me sad.

What a debut album - it blew me away when I first heard it, and I have been a fan ever since.

Also now sitting here with Hybrid Theory playing. Rest in peace, troubled soul frown

The words to Numb are a little more poignant now!

I wanted to see them at the beginning of July but was in Prague to see Guns n Roses instead so missed it.

Collision Course with J-zee is one of my favourite albums ever. Would have loved to have been at the live show at the Roxy in LA in July 2004
