I'm after Hue type bulbs but not Hue money. I like the Hue disco effect, are there any other gu10 bulbs that do this?

I've looked, nothing come close to Hue, nearest are these: https://www.banggood.com/Mi-Light-Dimmable-GU10-4W...

But you have to import them from China and whilst they're probably safe they won't have been through the rigorous testing needed to sell an electrical product in the UK so do you want to take the risk that they might catch fire at some point?

Are the Hue bulbs any bigger or would they fit into these or similar ok? A hue is 72mm, a normal halogen gu10 is 52mm

These look similar to the Criwi bullbs I had from Argos. They were absolute tosh. Used to loose connectivity. I think il go with Hue, il only regret it.

I think the new version of the GU10s are slightly smaller than the older ones

Interesting, didn't know there was a UK stockist for these which would infer that they've been through certification. Still cheaper if you buy them from China assuming you avoid paying import duty which generally I seem to be able to dodge!

Hue do white-only bulbs (in all formats, including GU10) for quite a bit cheaper now - 2-pack is £50 rather than £50 for a single colour bulb.

There's some ones on Amazon under the Innr brand that are meant to be compatible that I might try out - those are £30 for a 2-pack.

As it's for a BBQ party Ive ordered some festoon lighting (10 bulb) off amazon and putting E27 hue bulbs in. Found some colour ones on ebay 2nd hand so hopefully should be all ok.
