Would someone please tell me the best place to buy the brake pads for a current V8 Vantage including, the hand brake pads. Which pads best suit this car?

Eurocarparts stock pagid for front back and hand brake, wait until a weekend comes around and use the code provided. You can get 50 or 60% off.The box which the pads come in will say DB9 which has the same brakes as the V8V.

I went for Performance Friction pads and the stopping power in soooo much better than stock.

Supplied and fitted by DAE

Fronts are the same as VW Tourag, Range Rover sport, evo 8 and Impreza STI ( no wear sensor in the pads for the last 2).
Hand brake pads are S type Jag.
I have not been able to cross ref. the rear pads to any run of the mill stuff yet.

@yourtheguy,

Do you know which model RR Sport carry the same brake pads?

And if possible any model no? Or are they just Pagid / Brembo?

I don't need any at the moment having changed them and discs all round in the last year - but for future ref. as the RR Sport 2.7 pads are £67!!

Thanks. I suspect they will be more expensive than that.

you can find RRS pads that may "fit" for £30 including wires on ebay ....not sure about the braking performance though, maybe someone can give them a try ? smile

Hi Bogie, these pads where brembo pads from a main agent, and as for braking efficiency, if the can stop a RRS from over a 110 mph I would think that they should stop an Aston being a good bit lighter.
But I'm not saying that the pads have the same material in them but I would think they would be up to the job.

Yeah, im taking the mick a bit, im sure they are more than adequate. I have a RRS V8 and the brakes on it are excellent...its fitted with genuine Brembo pads, they are £100 per axle + £50 fitting at the Land Rover specialist, I might take the Vantage there next time as that is less than I paid to buy the pads alone smile

My two colonial pence:
Brake pads should be chosen based on needs. If cost is your main driver, you may be able to save money with cross-referenced parts like those from Range Rover, etc. But safety should always trump cost - don't skimp on brake pads. The OEM Pagids are silly expensive, so it isn't hard to save money going with aftermarket ones like I detail in the video below. You should have no problem saving money while also getting pads more suitable for your needs.

Happy to answer any questions about that. Tried to cover a ton of info as quickly as possible so I'm sure I left things out.

Early V8V and early DB9 share the same brakes: 4-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers. Those are the ones I have laid out in the video above.
V8VS and MY12.25 V8V, DB9, and I think Rapide go to 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers. Fronts changed, rears didn't.

Pads aren't interchangeable between 4- and 6-piston calipers, nor are pads interchangeable between the front and rear 4-piston calipers.

Rich,

I thought that it was a very informative video.

I had stuck with the OEM ones but in hindsight I could have gone to another make.

I like the description on the chamfered edges and the explanation of dust generation.

Well done for helping us out.

Ok my point on this to say that we are being ripped off on buying parts from AM dealers ie hand brake pads (you can;t say that the compound on these would be different) dealer price 80 odd quid from my Brembo agent 26 quid inc. VAT

Might be a stupid question but unless you drive the car with the handbrake on (not recommended), or rally it extensively, then how do you wear out the handbrake pads? Why would they need changing other than a main dealer ripping you off?

Porterfield R4-S fronts are good as well arnt they? Less dust? Do the Performance Frictions produce less dust as well?

Based on anecdotal evidence on forums, pretty much any aftermarket pads seem to generate less dust than OE Pagid RS4-2-2 smile

Ive got EBC red fitted at the moment, and they appear to be near dust free, certainly combined with Armor All wheel armour, coating on my diamond cut wheels, they never have must dust on them between washes, just road dirt that washes off real easy.

Pete even when the handbrake is off you will still get a small amount of drag of the pads against the discs.
