Hi All,

Has anyone used silicone/ally tube as replacement induction hoses? If so what did you use?
Despite listing them on their website,TVR car parts do not have any original style replacements.

Any other ideas?

Cheers

Bill

Alu. is probably a no-go, as this will easily conduct the heat from the engine and warm up the intake air.

Cooler air is denser and has more Oxygen per unit volume, so you can add more fuel ( result : more power maybe ) and still keep the optimum air/fuel ratio.

I think one or two have replaced them with a selection of silicone hoses and alluminium pipes from somewhere like AP Motorstore

Presumably the alluminium tubes will be joined to the (hot alluminium) plemun by silicone hoses which will act as a thermal break?

The hot air in the engine bay is going to heat up the pipework, even if it is insulated from the hot plenum. frown

Metal pipe with an insulating sleeve should be OK. I used silicone hose, which was prettier but a fair bit more expensive.

But all the cold air rushing through it will cool it down again tongue out

This week I bought black silicone hose from AP Motorstore but am sending it back because it didn't match the picture on the website.

I wanted to get solid black colour but it seems that it's only available with silver stitching.

I have just found https://www.viperperformance.co.uk/silicone-hoses_... which has what looks like the same hose for half the price.

Also considered http://www.autosiliconehoses.com/silicone-polyeste... but I'm not sure the hose is flexible enough for the bend from AFM to Plenum.

I have been to ASH and none of the silicone hoses are flexible enough to do the job.
They end up kinking.
I tried the 2mm flexible and the 4mm solid.
I think the only way will be to use a combination of 4mm hose and ally tube and 45 degree bends.

Yes, at these diameters these hoses don't curve much. I use straights and bends joined by short pieces of tube, just as you describe.

I just used some wire reinforced ducting on the Reserve. Worked fine.

The problem is I don't have the original ones!
I have been using some wire re-inforced ducting but I don't think it's up to the job.

Hi...
I came across these during my never ending quest to have a tidy garage.
I believe they are a pair of original Ford 2.9 air intake hoses.
Maybe someone will assist me in safe disposal of them... Careful gents smile
