I first stumbled across Jeremy Clarkson via his hilarious column in Performance Car back in the Eighties I'd guess, long before the BBC and mainstream media discovered him. Anyone who remembers his tale of modifying his Revenger will know what I mean! biggrin

For some reason I was thinking about these tonight and wondered whether they had ever been made into a book like his Top Gear magazine column and newspaper columns. I've had a look on Amazon but couldn't see anything, I just wondered whether anyone had ever come across these in book form?

I think it would be fantastic to read them again.

There is a great story in "The Road to Muckle Fugga" with Clarkson and Phil Llewllyn, Clakson's stuff from that era was very good, Llewllyn was a great journalist though, sadly missed. Anyway, buy the book

I used to love reading the Clarkson column in my Dad's copy of Performance Car. This book contains some stuff from Performance Car https://www.amazon.com/Clarkson-Cars-Jeremy/dp/014...

Chattels. It was the back page. Brilliant insightful writing. Shame he has become a bit of a caricature of himself nowadays.

He learned it paid him a good living. Good luck to him.

Absolutely this. He's figured out how to appeal to the masses. You don't do that by appearing too smart.

I recall enjoying Phil Llewelyn and I've just ordered that book, many thanks for the tip.

That's interesting, I think I have that one somewhere. I'll look it out.

I've got most of Clarkson's books. You Know You've Got Soul is a favourite I'd recommend to anyone. It's not just about cars (in fact it mostly isn't about cars).

It turned out that Clarkson on Cars was one of the very few Clarkson books I don't have.

I do now though, and the Revenger story is indeed in there! biggrin

Looking forward to getting stuck into some classic Clarkson prose.
