That event prompted probably my favourite ever Private Eye cartoon, where a rescue crew from the west cut open the Russian submarine, only to find a smaller Russian submarine inside, which they cut open to reveal an even smaller Russian submarine inside, which they cut open to..........

Questions
Why manslaughter surely an accident is an accident
If she did drown on the boat how did he think he'd get away with it. Bidies don't disolve in hours

Can't believe it's been 17 years! I think, before Sep 11th, that and the Concorde crash were the most shocking things I'd seen on TV news. Similar fatalities meeting a very different end.

Unsurprisingly it was deliberately sunk;

Probably not the only thing he scuttled on that fateful voyage.

just as i thought, if he weighted the body down she may never be found. When a rocket scientist says he accidentally pressed the wrong button, you know it is BS.

Not much room for anyone else! The Dear Leader would have to do his own crewing.

So no body found on the sub.

No body found on land either yet, dead or a alive and CCTV footage of the area where he supposedly dropped her off has turned up nothing so far.

Probably turn out she's alive and well but hiding out, having paid him to drop her off on the remote island as part of her plan to escape her boyfriend or something, and the sinking was actually accidental because he left some hatch open after dropping her off in an unusual place so didn't quite follow drill!

Is the sub now trashed? Shame for all the other volunteers who built it.

depends what it hit when it landed on the bottom I guess? It wasn't on the bottom for very long so I would have thought once its washed out and dried it might be ok providing there isn't any hull damage?

My money is on

He takes her on-board, tries his luck, she refuses, he tries harder, she falls, is seriously injured, he panics and dumps her over board far away, then scuttled to sub in an attempt at deflection. Now he is changing his story to try and fill the holes in as the police point them out.

Fully agree.

I just don't understand why someone who i supposed to be as bright as this chap can come up with such a pathetic and useless story.

Very sorry for the family as they will likely never believe the truth now even if it does come out.

Even more so when you look at the fact that others were cancelled suggesting that he had an idea in his head in the first place...
