Apologies - the Telegraph version draw from a press agency didn't mention them at all.Sky doesn't either. Seems to be 50/50 whether they mention it or stay very generic.

My parents chose Cromer as their retirement base - I'm glad they're not around to see this utterly shameful state of affairs.
I know Cromer to be on the whole a wiry little community, battered by the harsh North Sea, with plenty of strong and hardy fishermen, many of whom man the town's lifeboats, whose history features some of the bravest rescues of the RNLI's colourful history. These fishermen also often go out at 4am on that hostile sea to make a living. In open boats. It is hardly a pretty seaside town full of shops selling cushions and plaques which say things like "a friend is a gift you give yourself".
My point being that Cromer is not a place that is easily cowed, or "put into lockdown".
Plainly the police force are so numerically outnumbered, financially overstretched, and ham-strung by a type of outmoded political correctness, that they are unable to deal with this situation as the community deserves.
Though in fairness it's not something I would care to deal with either. So I think that lawlessness of this type, and in these numbers, should be, as a matter of course, dealt with by the military. Cripes, sorry if this sounds like a letter to the Daily Mail... but we are being badly short-changed here.
I reckon it's time to man up on this issue. Can you imagine if an infestation of these antisocial oxygen thieves was routinely attended by a detachment of squaddies and a couple of tanks, turning up within the hour? "Move along now, lads"...

Pretty much what used to happen in the towns around Stonehenge in the 80s. Loads of travellers, loads of pongos, loads of fights. Eventually solved by the rather draconian banning of any groups of more than 3 people within a several Mile radius, and several pitched battles between police and the travellers. I know Cromer to be on the whole a wiry little community, battered by the harsh North Sea, with plenty of strong and hardy fishermen, many of whom man the town's lifeboats, whose history features some of the bravest rescues of the RNLI's colourful history. The Army has fewer soldiers than the police forces have officers. They're also over stretched. Good luck getting them to turn out.I think that lawlessness of this type, and in these numbers, should be, as a matter of course, dealt with by the military ... a detachment of squaddies and a couple of tanks, turning up within the hour? They updated the article, it definitely didn't mention them when this was first postedThat's them all over. I guess the locals in Cromer don't know how it should be dealt with. Reminds me of a village, near me (10-15 miles away) that had such an infestation. It was dealt with very effectively, a no trouble or else ultimatum. Naturally following a spate of thefts and some trouble in the pub, it was "dealt with".
All damage was paid for, all stolen tools returned, red diesel paid for etc. They never returned, either. Not sure I should say what the locals did, though. It wasn't pretty, put it that way. I saw the aftermath.
Looks like the residents of Cromer should do the same, otherwise rest assured this will go on for weeks.
(Though there's a long back story to this which I won't go in to, there's a good reason why I dislike them so much)
