Irma. The biggest ever Atlantic hurricane......
Discussion
I live in Charleston, SC and am watching this closely. I stayed during Hurricane Matthew last year and that was enough. We have had a relatively wet month or 2 and its pouring down today. This means the ground will be very wet, weakening trees hold in the ground against high winds and drainage and waterways filling up. My back garden flooded way too close to my garage for comfort. I'll be doing what I can to try and minimise flood potential for my cars in the garage. (PH priorities......) Then see about high tailing outta dodge depending how the path tracks over the next few days.
Fingers crossed we'll be OK.

Most powerful hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic apparently. I think that warrants a mention. I don't know how they cope on these tiny Pacific islands when there's nowhere to evacuate to. You wouldn't want to be in an underground shelter for fear of flooding, and anything high up is going to bear the brunt of it.

In Orlando and preparing as much as possible, but heading to New York on Friday anyway, Landlord will monitor the house while we're away, but put all the garden stuff in the garage, not expecting flooding here (due to topography), so any damage will be wind damage. However being Orlando, if it comes straight up through the center of the state it should lose power by the time it reaches us, the worst scenario is if it stays at sea and then heads straight in across Merritt Island into Orlando, but I think that's unlikely (I don't think it works like that), we should really just get a weakened storm or the outside edge of it.
Feel sorry for those in it's direct path though, must be bloody horrendous!

Nobody cares about those little bits in the middle. Only Florida is important. They shut Disneyland.
Why? It's in CaliforniaIn other, non funfair related news, Storm Jose has been uprated to a hurricane and is starting to worry the Carribean.
