When a hurricane hits, what do the airports do with their planes? Fly them all out? I assume their aren't enough hangars etc.

Maria now reported as cat 5!
Horrific. Again.

Not much coverage yet. Obviously not predicted to hit America.

Move the forecast on a few days, expected to absorb the remains of Jose, and an interesting outlook for the UK.

I'm in Iceland from Wednesday next week onwards for a few days so I can guarantee that the UK will see the most spectacular storms in decades. It's going to be a real sight to behold.

fks sake.

Sorry to hear that.

I have a friend in Boynton Beach in Florida, and it took them 3 days after Irma to get communications back, so keep your spirits up - it is more likely to be a tech problem.

Oh do tell, you think it may be rough up there too? smile

Although thinking about it, I actually prefer the idea of horrific weather in the comfort of my concrete-construction block of flats rather than a small hotel on an Icelandic rock...

Projections I'm seeing show the hurricane leftovers bouncing off high pressure around Uk/Scandi and hitting Iceland.

It looks like it is following a path a bit further south than Irma. Puerto Rico was skirted last time, but it looks like a direct hit with this one.

Professor of Climate Change from Oxford Uni just on R4 News, saying stuff like this is going to happen on a far more regular basis due to climate change.

So good to see these people know what they are talking about.

Professor of losing his job, university paid house and cushy research grant if he doesn't say it's always the effects of climate change.

Hurricane season has always fluctuated. 2013-2015 was below average (2013 significantly so).

Trump should have built a wall, a great big wall to keep the Mexican out.
