Nigel and Sally Rowe, from the IoW, have taken their 6yo son out of his CoE school and are suing the school, because a boy in the class sometimes came to school in the girl's uniform. Their other son was withdrawn from the same school for the same reason last year.

They are claiming they are being discriminated against on religious grounds, because their Christian beliefs are being infringed.

Those parents are idiots

And also the parents of the other 6yo

That is too young to decide they want to be a different gender. Just let kids be and stop, forcing st on them.

Ffs what do they think is actually going to happen to their children when they are in the presence of a boy dressed as a girl?

Right? School is obliged to comply with the Equality Act, they cannot make a 6 yr old wear gender specific school uniform.

Presumably the elder kid dressing in dresses was from the same family as the younger one?

Both sets of parents seem a bit...detached IMO. Both seem to be using their kids to prove a point, which is hardly good parenting.

I'm starting to believe that "choice" in publicly funded services is not a good idea (wasn't that another Blairism?).

You want to send your kids to a state school, you get one choice (the one nearest to you). No religious considerations etc, no pandering to dislike of the dress code. If you want those sorts of thing, there are plenty of private schools you can use.

As for suing...feck off. More waste of public resources defending it. One choice, like it or lump it.

I'm an active Christian - they are idiots and make a mockery of my faith...

What's wrong with talking to their children about people being different...

And excepting them...

And - wait for it - treating others as they would want to be treated....!!!!

Jesus made it easy and distilled 10 rules into two - they still fail on 50% of them!

Dummies - burn the witches!

They were on R4 this morning. They said that their child was upset and confused by the behaviour of the other child.
6 does seem a little young for these things to have manifested in such a ways as to prompt a child to dress as a girl one day, and a boy the next, and then keep alternating as he/she chooses.
I have some knowledge of transgender issues (family member) and this does not fit with the experiences I have had. That being said, everyone is different, so it is very hard to judge.

If they would care to Google Prince George's christening, they will see the Head of their church happily smiling on as her great grandson, um, wears a dress.

Christian people acting in an un-Christian and hypocritical way shocker!

The parents are just forcing their own prejudices onto their kids, I don't believe for one minute that their children became upset about it, they may have asked questions, which could have been easily answered and then all would have been forgotten.

They're idiots. And Christians. They probably think their child will 'catch the gay' or something.
That's not how they came across this morning on the Today program (R4)

To have convinced yourself you were born in the wrong body, and be allowed to think that by your parents suggests a certain mental fragility all round.

My wife has a friend who's primary school daughter dresses as a boy and her older brother or sister (can't remember which), has already transitioned.

My daughters boyfriend is going through transitioning at the moment, he lives as a male and has done for some years and felt as a young child that he was in the wrong body, he is due to start transitioning later this year/early next year.

The article of R4 this morning stated that the child in question would dress as either a girl or a boy, depending upon what gender they identified with that day.,

That could be very disruptive amongst the other 6 year old children in the class.

What I find most disappointing about what I've seen on this so far is the bile, hate & instant witch hunt spewing forth.

There's a certain hypocrisy in people wading in on one person's perspective whilst demanding they respect a different one.

If these parents are to see things from the other side, how successful is this tactic likely to be.

They displayed none of the vitriol poured out upon them by the vocalists whilst explaining their position on the radio.

Is this how it is now?

If so then that is quite some coincidence eh? The chances of 2 children from the same family feeling they were born in the wrong body must be tiny. Unless of course there were some outside influences helping the children come to these decisions? Like... oh I don't know... the parents confusing their kids by bringing them up "gender neutral" and letting them choose a gender just like they choose their breakfast cereal in the morning.

But that cannot possibly be it...
