Hi all.
Just joined pistonhead. So go gently please. I love my car. But the kids are getting taller! I'll be needing room for three in the back. I'm thinking just getting another focus. Any one suggest anything else for little money? Thanks for looking..

So do you have a focus currently? If so what is up with it?

If you like your current Focus then this is a good shout.

What's your budget, and how many miles do you do?

Hi all,

Thanks for your suggestions. I think Ill probably opt for a newer focus. I think the 05s are larger than the original focus. The mondeo is a good possibility too.

Theres little difference, if any, in the available interior space of an original Focus and a mk2 focus.

You would really be better off going for a C-Max - same car, but a better shaped body for your requirements, or a Mondeo - bigger car full stop.

C Max is a good shout.

They seem to have more room in the back even though its the same chassis

Thanks for that pic Great Granny! Those are three full size seats! Thats my kids sorted. That leads to my next question...

Is the C-Max fun to drive as the focus it is based on?

Yes, its a great car. I resold quite a few when i was motor trading. Its IMHO perfect for what you need it for and you wont be disappointed with it (hence why i've flagged it twice wink )

It's not going to be an MX-5 but it will be better than the average small MPV being based on the Focus which has an excellent chassis.

They are very cheap as well.

Avoid the diesels - particularly the 1.6TDCI. Make sure you go for a petrol variant - 1.6 is nice, the 1.8 is arguably better however uses more fuel
