Fast & Furious Live show announced - update

PH partners with Fast Live as the movie heads to arenas - tickets now available!

UPDATE, 29/09/2017:
General sale has kicked off today with tickets available from £35 at venues across the UK, starting with the world premiere on January 19th 2018 at the O2 in London. Tickets are available here.

The all-new, groundbreaking arena show takes audiences closer than ever to the films. Featuring the most advanced theatrical technology and all the famous hero cars from across eight action-packed feature films, this new Fast & Furious story will unfold live in front of the audience.

From underground drag racing in Los Angeles, drifting through car parks in Tokyo, outrunning a submarine in Russia and ripping a bank vault through the streets of Rio, the live audience can get up close to everything they love from the explosive movie series.

Over the next few months, we'll be working with the team to bring you exclusive behind-the-scenes content and ticket giveaways, so keep your eyes peeled for more content soon!

Watch the trailer here.

ORIGINAL STORY, AS REPORTED 22/09/2017:
Whether or not you've followed the trajectory the Fast & Furious series has taken over the years, it's impossible to have missed the success of the franchise. Since the first film in 2001, the tale of an undercover cop infiltrating the illegal world of street racing has evolved into the blockbuster story of the world's greatest vehicle-based super-agents - and raked in over $5 billion in the process.

Now though, the action is no longer to be confined to the silver screen. The Fast & Furious Live show is set to debut at London's O2 Arena on January 19th before touring 22 other major cities across the rest of the UK and Europe over the following months.

Billed as the "the most spectacular live action arena production ever", the two hour show will include precision performance driving replicating key scenes from the film series, the locations for which will be recreated using state-of-the-art 3D projection mapping. There will also be range of newly created "physics-defying" stunts and performances from some of the world's leading parkour athletes. Several original cars from the films, as well as recreations of a selection of the films' other hero cars will be included; from Dom's legendary Dodge Charger to the flip car from Fast & Furious 6.

But what does this have to do with PistonHeads, you might ask. Well, PH has been announced as a premium partner for the show. Over the next few months, we'll be working with the Fast Live team to bring you exclusive behind the scenes content, early access to tickets and some great giveaways.

Tickets go on general sale on Friday September 29th, but we'll have a limited number of pre-sale tickets available on Thursday. You'll only be able to purchase these if you're signed up to receive our promotional emails, so if you're not, update your preferences here. See you there!

When are they gonna finally let the franchise die? It's already so dull after the last one.

To be fair I have a soft spot for some of these movies.

I think it's because the first one came out just as I was getting my own car and just seemed very cool. Admittedly I wouldn't be seen dead in an orange Supra now but still.

As for the latest movies, they're alright for switching off and not having to think albeit they are beyond ridiculous.

I suspect this show will be a bit of a spectacle and worth a peak due to the stunts more than the franchise it's based on.

2Fast2Furious and Tokyo Drift (two of the first few) are the worst of the lot biggrin
The rest I'd class as entertaining trash / guilty pleasure!

Yeah, what the hell?! Looks like a steelie with a hub cap that's made to look like a brake disc behind an alloy wheel...

I still can't quite fathom how it got from a cop trying to infiltrate a gang of minor criminals who stole VHS video recorders with modified Japanese shopping cars all the way to ... whatever you call what the franchise now is? Honestly - how many of you saw that coming when you first saw Vin Diesel in the first one make about 15 consecutive upshifts in a Mazda? paperbag

I like the more recent ones more than the early ones. The addition of Jason Statham is always a massive plus point.

I predict that the fanfare and anticipation by some will only lead to a quick succession of failures, as this new show won't get the audience levels perceived.

This is being done by the people who successfully created Top Gear Live, but that was a different show altogether.

How exciting can the same cars be, doing varied stunts before it becomes boring to watch?
You only have to see the levels of crowd attendance at drift events in the UK, to realise this isn't going to be all that successful, really.

Quite. While the show itself could well be mildly entertaining, the other punters will make it a grim experience for the few attendees blessed with more than 11 brain cells.

As well as the inevitable wife-beater vests, I anticipate many tattoos and Monster logos. Perhaps even tattoos of Monster logos.
