Sellers that won't tell you what they sold it for
Discussion
As private seller, there no advantage to me in giving this information. In fact you run the risk of silly comments along the lines of I would have paid you more. If I don't know you, then I would apply the attitude test before deciding and be more inclined to part with the info if it's a specialist/classic/hobby car rather than a mass market product.

Why do you care, it's sold?
Helps to get an idea of the market, so I know what cars are actually going for, rather than advertised for. A chap yesterday let me know he sold for 2900 when advertised at 4400. There's no disadvantage to the seller at all. It's between the buyer and seller.
Too many variables, the seller might have been desperate to sell (or not)
Because you will be the 10th call the seller has received.
I got 2 inquiries when I put the car on Autotrader. One of them resulting in the car being sold.
I can't remember how - but once it was clear that the car had been sold, I had numerous calls asking what I sold it for.
The first one I responded to, after that it got a bit tedious.

Delete your advert when it is sold then? I hadn't a clue it was sold. I got 2 inquiries when I put the car on Autotrader. One of them resulting in the car being sold.

Why do they care? Phoned up about a couple of cars - sorry their sold. Ah, okay, no bother mate, out of interest, how much did you sell it for. Can't tell you. Why on earth not - you've already sold it! Private sellers, I should add, so not dealers with a margin to protect.
Weirdos.
The weirdo here is the person demanding to know the financial details of a sale that has nothing whatsoever to do with them.Weirdos.

But this was a first for me.

This 100%. Even worse to draw attention to it by creating a post. I genuinely wonder how many of these posts are pseudo reality. Was there ever a civic? Will there ever be an s2000? Is this the real life, is this just fantasy. Toyoda said:

Once I did it to a low baller who called back after the car had sold and stuck it to him, felt pretty good. I wouldn't go round calling adverts marked as sold and trying to find the sold prices though...
