Imho - because the British authorities cannot conclude their own investigation while legal proceedings continue in Portugal.
My point is that it all happened abroad & is therefore not for us to investigate.

yes because it would suggest that a Country such a the one where she went missing is incapable of performing a professional investigation or coming to a conclusion the parents did not like.

Indeed, but the British authorities committed themselves to an investigation and they cannot afford to reach the ‘wrong’ conclusion and there is a chance of that happening while the case between the parents and the former detective continues.

Many people must think that first detective on the scene called it correctly

Cast your mind back to the first time you saw them on Television ten years ago,
What was your impression?

Parents prioritised going on the piss over doing their job as parents. How they are not up for some form of neglect god only knows.
Sounds shocking, I'm sure social services have been round to safe guard the other children as they wpuld in all other cases of such serious neglect.

I've been thinking about this earlier, there's a genuine chance that she could be in the sea and my proposal is we drain the oceans, it'll cost a little but it's the right thing to do

I think you're over reacting to be honest, if perhaps they had evidence of the children crying for long periods other times yes perhaps, however this was a single event I suspect.

We've all been in those situations as parents where you lock all the doors and sit in the garden I suspect.

I mean, I take it they locked the doors and windows and sat on the balcony next door?

Dumb waste of cash. If there's appeal funding still there, use that. If not, a line needs drawing under it.
There is still appeal funding there - the fund had assets of just over £750k for the year ended 31 March 2016, although just under £550k of that is badged as 'restricted funds', and there is no knowing what the terms of the restrictions are.

Then it should be handed over to the govt to cover this latest tranche and part of what the rest of the investigations have cost the taxpayer. And then a line needs to be drawn.

In theory would Scotland Yard accept money from the parents, their charity etc to carry out official police work?

My first impression was that she did it. I later softened to simply it was their fault.
