Whilst it appears shameful you have to realise that this situation occurs through constant challenging of HO decisions where the plaintiff fails and appeals court decisions,
You can't use the emotive comments "is thriving at school and only speaks English" when your asylum appeal failed in 2013/2014 and you'd only been in the UK for a year....
No one's a winner in this situation but PP is absolutely correct in upholding & applying the courts direction.

Or maybe we should allow the HS to change and alter the direction of courts and the law (as applied by Judges) as they seem fit ….. Gina Miller may see that differently to you wobble

Well, just hang on a minute then because the "in Jasmine’s case, social services applied for a protection order to stop the home secretary from removing her, which the court granted."

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/sep...

Is this the decision of the courts you think should be upheld or do you prefer to pick and chose what court suits your political point of view?

Bearing in mind we're talking about the united kingdom, one of the most companionate, tolerant and liberal countries on the globe who's known for standing up for human rights, Known for welcoming and providing safety for thousands of asylum seekers yearly, I'd judge that failing to convince any of the legal, crown or immigration courts (and the companionate, tolerant and liberal Judges who sit and arbitrate) to grant her appeal applications for asylum.
Your article should read,
Family division of the high court ruled that it has no power to overturn previous judgements to deny asylum to this family, unfortunately in typical Guardian hysteria it has been translated to - family division of the high court ruled that it has no power to stop the home secretary from deporting a vulnerable girl,

I can not see any picking and choosing within this example - only following legal hierarchy until exhaustion,

However to put your mind at rest I'd not expect PP to put on her Dr Martians and march this family to the aircraft herself thumbup

I don't think PP will allow them in, even if they are doctors!

My word, what a statement!

I can only assume you have already been enthusiastically celebrating the re-opening of English pubs this morning?
A lot of assumptions on here, but very little clear thought or knowledge.

Of course we should do that.

Do you think we should be actively sending children back to those countries when they have lived here for 8 years and face that practice if they are returned to one of those countries?

That's the uncomfortable question with this case and Patel seems to believe the answer to it is "yes".
personally i would be assembling a unit of specialists to insert in every country that practices fgm and killing every single practitioner no matter the country. i would communicate this to the leaders of said countries first in order to give them an opportunity to address the issues themselves. i would do the same for internet scammers as well, track, trace, bullet to the skull. i do hold some extreme views on this front though, so realise they might not be shared by many biggrin

You would think all parties would want this released, done and dusted ASAP. I dont like Patel's politics or opportunism, but I have no idea if she is a workplace bully. Many will be the same regardless of whether they like her. So why leave room for doubt? Government arrogance again, get it cleared up and let people get on with their jobs. Remember the fuss (rightly) made about labours inability to deal with their problems? We now have a tory member being readmitted although they are a holocaust denier, various examples of islamaphobia being swept under carpet and now this bullying furore. Where is the PH indignation?

In my mind Patel is innocent until proven guilty. Get it dealt with, as much as I dont like her, she is clearly a driven, motivated woman, let her get on with her job. (I admit to an agenda here, the more they let Priti Vacant get on with her job, the more likely they are to see her ineptitude and replace her with someone more suitable!! smile )

Won't happen.

She was appointed on the basis of her loyalty to Dim Jon-Son, not her ability.

She is one of the only women in a senior position too, if she goes then it looks even more like a posh boys club running the country.

Yup. Token female cabinet member, certainly not appointed on the basis of ability or integrity.
