Puts her posturing about 'being concerned' into perspective.
Odious individual.
So telling the Commissioner that she didn't want the Police to allow the gatherings to take place is the same as endorsing the the tactics that the Police used? Ridiculous. Or should Patel have specified the tactics too? Odious individual.
I've been utterly clear about my disdain for PP as HS, but you guys are being ridiculous
However, if you ask the police to enforce the law and then it starts getting a bit messy with people not dispersing etc. - what do you expect the police to do next? She won’t have specified tactics but you would have to be a special kind of naive not to think that something might kick off wouldn’t you?
The odious bit is the apparent condemnation the following day rather than coming out and saying that she had told the Met to enforce the law.

Let this please be the smoking gun that gets her. Brows, diet consultants and cup cakes. How many people would get this through finance without some awkward questions? And beauty treatments in lockdown? If only she was doing the Downing Street briefing tonight!

Jeremy Corbyn would have spent a lot more on beard grooming so I don't see what the problem is.
Yeah I'm going to stick my neck out here and suggest that he doesn't spend anything at all on beard grooming!£100k on beauty treatments though
Good to know that my tax is in safe hands

Not that I particularly want to find myself seen to be sticking up for Priti Patel but I think these are charges on Home Office departmental cards rather than specifically on hers aren't they?
Yes, I'm no fan of the Home Secretary either, but this "expenses" story is a lame attempts at journalism, and which is closer to being a smear story that will no doubt get shared widely on social media.Guido has checked the facts and the "beauty products" spend was in fact for PPE. And the clothing spend was to provide clothes for refugees from Primark.

Guido's unnamed (and unofficial) source simply confirmed that most of the Primark spending on clothing for refugees. No explanation why 'most' not 'all'.

Maybe more transparency by government departments might help - officially releasing details of the spending, rather than just the name of the business involved.
Then we wouldn't have to rely on leaks to government friendly sites to find that out.
Indeed. Then we wouldn't have to rely on leaks to government friendly sites to find that out.
Either way though it’s obviously not her own personal spending claims with 70k on beauty products or 5k in primark etc.
