The video just frustrates me, she could have just drove off over the pavement. And the other cars just sat there when the lights changed blocking her way. I would have rammed my way though the cars in front if i was in that situation.
This was potentially the most infuriating video I've ever seen for the same reason.

Gormless people just sitting there and blocking her path, and to be honest I think I'd have been doing a bit of a back and forth motion with the car, if I had the presence of mind anyway. It's easy to say that sat on the sofa I guess.

Shocked!
Or are we? I'm not. Nothing but nothing surprises anymore.

The majority of law abiders don't want to lift a finger to assist, even if they feel a desperate need to. Unsurprisingly. You only need to read some answers on here as to why.

More surprising, there are posters on here who constantly harp on that they wouldn't want to go back to the 60s and 70s - ie the bad ol' days.
Laughable.
But then, of course, they weren't there! They've only read about those 'terrible' times.

Re this incident, I've read other reports sympathising with the woman in question, but apparently it's her 16 year old son (who was with her at the time) who has been completely traumatised by this incident.

fking scumbags who did this. Low life is too good a term for them.

Better to sit put and take video evidence IMO.
you may well be right but does the act not make your hackles rise regardless of the financial standing of the victim?

if an observer was to react and possibly drive into them I would be surprised if a jury would find them guilty going on the video evidence.
the thugs were wielding axes and who was to know if there weren't children in danger let alone the driver.

eta sort of confirmed by above post.

I wouldn't think there'd be too many issues running them over as the camera car.
If I was the victim, I'd try and extract myself from the situation.

If I was a bystander, I'd do nothing. Nothing at alll. If I did anything, I'd run the same risk as the police when a criminal gets injured: I'd be spending the next 3 or 4 years under investigation and have the possibility of being prosecuted at the end. This is on top of the civil claim from the criminals with the broken legs. Think I'd just turn up the stereo.
You wouldn't spend any near as long under investigation as the police would if that were the route taken. It's likely you'd be treated as a witness from the off.

It'd be grief, with insurance companies etc, but sometimes doing the right thing is.

When, when in history has that ever been the case and actually worked? Brushing aside the fact that you seem to be saying that the poor moped boys are just try to feed their family.

The car infront of her couldn't go anywhere after the lights changed due to the ped rider sitting directly infront of it, unless the driver ran over the ped where were they meant to go?

Wonder how often this happens in Manchester?

Must be 12 years ago now I was musing getting an X5 and a police officer in the family warned us off due to the number of them being car-jacked in Manchester - yet it wasn't being widely reported.

There's a Bentayga near us (only one I ever see) and it does really stand out not just for the model itself, but it's bright red too. It's all very saying you won't be cowed by perceived threats, but at the same time it's a bit bonkers to put your own and your family's safety at risk.

Just spotted this article and thought there may be a thread running on here smile

I still don't know what I'd have done if I was the camera car

My own family being attacked - easy, full ahead both engines and ram the bds

If I'd known it was a woman in the Bentley - dunno honestly, vigilantes don't tend to do well in court but I'm not sure I could watch the scenario pan out if she hadn't escaped

If I didn't know who was driving I hate to say it but without knowing it was a targeted attack I'd probably keep out of it for fear either group were properly armed

Comments?

Whilst the circumstances are different it reminds me of the incident with the bikers and the range rover in new York.

If I was in either situation I'd be putting my Land Rover in drive and floor it!

I know on some GT Continentals the side windows appear to be double glazed (as well as laminated) I assume this would be the same for the Bentayga which is why the window held up well!

I was certainly impressed with the strength of that window.

Yeah held up pretty well.

Though the scooter boys clearly need to lay of the weed and wotsits diet and do some strength training.... wink

Seeing stuff like that makes me consider laminated security film on the outside of my car windows, the only disadvantage is that if you crash into water then the laminated glass won't let you escape as easily.

I recall reading a book where similar happened to a bloke in Ford Scorpio sitting at the lights in the 90s. Scum are scum, I agree this happens with gross wealth inequality but England doesn't even come close to representing gross wealth inequality.

Do you crash into water a lot then?

And what difference would it make anyway? (If you think you can punch out a car window like they do in the movies I fear you're mistaken).

what on earth has the value of someones car got to do with the likelihood of them stopping to help someone that needed it? confused

Nail, head, hit for many of the Internet hero posts on here I fear. It's very VERY different when such a terrible situation suddenly comes out of nowhere.

Absolutely outrageous. Without wishing to be a dreadful PH hardman / staircase dominator, if I were in that camera car, I’d have driven at them without a second thought. What a disgrace.

What life do you live where you need to balance the risk / benefits of having someone hammer your window vs being underwater? laugh

It's easy to freeze if not used to things like that.

At a minimum the other drivers could have hit their horns and flashed their lights as a distraction
