Mentioned on LBC this morning; teams of plain-clothed police are now waiting at pinch-points in London's traffic so as to tackle/search suspected 'scooterists.
Yeah, it does sound quite promising.http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/12/06/underco...
On my ride into work yesterday, along Commercial Road, the police had a section of the bus lane coned off, with a police van inside the cones, and then 5 or 6 cops in cycle gear with police mountain bikes all lined up ready to go. I can't really believe this was linked to the new "snatch squads" but if not, any idea what they might have been up to?

Is that it? Bring back the death penalty - failing that, can't we lock up these scum forever with no parole?croyde said:
Hope he gets raped, catches AIDs and gets some nasty cancer along the way.
But then we would have to cough up for specialist cancer care, chemotherapy, medication & so on, over & above the £45k P/A it costs for him to languish behind bars. We really need to look at sentencing - perhaps send them off to an island somewhere, or to a failed state like Somalia? Biker 1 said:

Good point. Somalia it is then, after severing his spinal cord.
I just want him to have the most miserable long painful life.
But according to the watch sub forum on here, a Rolex is just a knocking about watch why would anybody want to steal it?
The others include: reliability, robustness (the clasps are now the best and the bezel is ceramic), timekeeping, classic designs, look better well worn and beaten up, and value retention.Right.

Rolex watches are bland and dull and few people bat an eyelid at them. A relative has one that he has worn every day for ~30 years, and only ~2 people have ever asked to see it closer in all that time.

Well Joey, if I might call you that (loved you work on Blue Peter by the way), whether or not it is a knocking about watch is neither here nor there. The watch could have been diamond encrusted, or a £2.99 from a petrol station piece of tat, but it belonged to someone and in this country, no one has the right to relieve a person of their property without a clear legal claim and, even then, killing them to do so is not on.35 years... the best possible sentence that the law permits. I'd favour 10 years, to establish guilt without doubt, then death in this case.
Wonder if they ever catch/convict the other guy?

“Shortly after midnight he was confronted by two men on a moped, one of whom was Bailey-Mascoll.
The Met Police say a second man, aged 21, who was also arrested over Mr Pearce's death has been released under investigation.”

He'll be 60 before he's eligible for parole. I don't want to see him beaten up in jail or sent to Somalia, he can just sit in his cell and think. In the 35 years while he waits for is parole to come up, had he been a normal person he may well have met the love of his life, bought his own pad, got married, had kids, become a grandparent. He'll do none of that. He'll just sit there, maybe giving it the bigun' to his prison mates, but he won't have Family Christmas's or birthday, no holidays no nights out in the pub with his mates. He'll just be sitting there while everyone else gets on with their lives.
