Isn't it sad that the public feel they have a right to know why?

I had tickets booked and am disappointed to not be able to see him live but the statement he made asked for his families privacy to be respected, why are people so incapable of doing so?

What is to be gained by knowing? Not a single thing. I just hope whatever the problems they are able to be sorted out in due course, speculation is nonsense.
So if you had made plans to do something, the other person cancelled giving no reason, you wouldn't be at all interested as to why?

Hopefully this is the last we see of the extremely overrated Mr Kaye.

I don't think the public feel they have a "right to know", they are rightly intrigued and curious though; I am and I don't have a particular interest in him, he is a public figure and ultimately his fans have made him who he is today so I can totally understand everyone's curiosity and interest in wanting to know why, it is human nature anyway.

From Viz's Top Tips a few years ago.

Save money on expensive Peter Kaye tickets by simply thinking about the 1970s.

His statement said all we need to know. It is a family issue we have no right to know anymore than that as he has made it clear it is something serious enough to let down so many people.

Humour is subjective, I and millions of others find him very funny you may not that is life

You seem to have an axe to grind and I don't know why - you aren't a fan of Peter Kay, that's fine, you don't have to be, but you seem to feel he owes you something, even though you haven't bought a ticket, don't watch his programmes as they don't entertain you, so he doesn't owe you anything.

I am certain that in due course, the reasons for him cancelling this will be made known. But right now, he may not be in a position to talk about it, emotionally, physically, whatever. Because some things take time to process and deal with personally, before he can deal with it publically, and just because he is a "public figure" you can't change that.

I strongly disagree, it's no different to being intrigued as to what happened in the crash in Birmingham at the weekend... it's just human nature! smile

Blimey, I couldn't read past the headline or photo I saw of that online. That said more than enough for me.

Exactly. Cancel one tour for family reasons. Kaye sounds like he's pretty much giving up comedy.

Because they can't spell Kay.

Anyway - we are all entitled to be intrigued, but I think we should be patient as well. The reason will become known at a time when he decides he can explain his decision, but that time is not right now.

we aren't invading his privacy by discussing our intrigue on here, but we shouldn't expect him to say more just yet if he doesn't feel ready to do so.

Because TDTF is an idiot who thinks its clever to stand out by spelling his name wrong.

1. Because it's a close approximation of his actual name?

2. Nobody cares.

It is absolutely normal for him - he likes to be silly in interviews and distract the interviewer.

He acted in a very similar manner the last time he was on Jonathan Ross's show, a few years ago - https://youtu.be/uL7sAQ4lwRI

Fair play. Not exactly funny though is it? I could kind of see his appeal back in the day, even read his books whilst lounging around on holidays once. I suppose his stand up shtick does attract the lowest common denominator, hence the sell out arenas.

I've no axe to grind in this thread but have to ask why you seem to like coming across as a tt?

Sorry. Have you confused me with someone else. All I've said is I think he's over8ed.

This is the same intrigue that makes people "rubberneck" at accidents on motorways or to stop helping people in need and film them dying instead, just so they can then post on line what they filmed to feed the intrigue of others.

The guy made a statement we should leave it at that until he decides if and when he should say more. I can live without knowing why even though I will miss the event we had tickets booked for

I am not a fan, I don't find him remotely funny.

Best wishes to him and his family and I hope whatever had caused him to cancel his tour had a good outcome.
