Another case collapsed in a drug trial, the judge put the prosecution barrister in the dock and he fainted.

Such a shame that stories like that ruin the credibility of people who work hard and diligently to uphold the law.

Do members of the CPS get brought up before any kind of professional body for situations like above?

Not sure if the case involving Sir Michaels Fallons Special Advisor has made it to these pages yet?

A house party at his house and a guest alleged he put his hand up her skirt. No corroborating evidence and apparently none of the other guests corroborated the accusation. Went to court and not guilty, jury didn’t take long to find not guilty.

Mr Holden said:
“Today’s unanimous verdict, delivered by the jury in such as short space of time, attests to my innocence, which I have maintained throughout, as do the Judge’s closing remarks in this case that: “Mr Holden leaves this court without a stain on his character and I hope that he is able to pick up his career where it left off.”

Probably not of course, you can’t get that time back.

The CPS lawyer in charge of the case can be brought before the Judge to explain any of his/her decisions.

When I went to police to report false accusations I handed in my phone for them to look through texts to show I had nothing to hide.

The "victim" was asked by police to get her phone, she refused, they didn't pursue this as she was the "victim".

Any rape case, both phones should be seized.

No - I'm not talking about TM, I'm talking in the 80's I recall complaints about police funding. And the 90's. And the 00's. In fact I'm not sure I have ever heard the police happy with the level of funding they have
Sorry- is that the police or the NHS you're talking about?

I've always had memories of the police complaining about underfunding - TBF that makes them the same as most government departments but none-the-less it's been there.

If the defence asks for any phone details they will be obtained.

Unused material.

Asked, the phone wasn't taken at time of incident so couldn't be done. Remember this process takes years. Plenty of time to loose a phone.

At least this one was punished.

Need to see more of this. It's not a game making such serious accusations.

She's female and young. Punishment will be a stern telling off.

At least she's been named and shamed.

The charge of wasting police time doesn't cover her offence IMO. What about the what she did to the bloke and its ongoing effect on him? She's effectively only being punished for bothering the police. What nonsense.

Also, quite why her age should be a factor in her not being charged with perverting the course of justice, I don't know.

This fisherman case has been discussed here before
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-44319526
Prosecution claims their fishing boat met with a larger boat and transferred drugs to a bouy
Fisherman claimed they didnt but found guilty
Now some navigation logs appear which may prove their innocence

Unless there's some extra evidence somewhere it does seem bizarre that they ever got convicted.

The crewman making expensive calls on an expensive satellite phone does seem odd. Perhaps GCHQ or someone knows more about the contents of the calls than has been made public.

Germaine Greer has been heavily criticised and some of her words are insensitive, but in the main isn't she just talking common sense?.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/05/30/rape-r...

Most reported "rapes" aren't some street attacker but two people who know each other getting it on, both of whom are often intoxicated. Would a graduated crime and therefore sentencing help?.

I've suggested the same before, it wasn't popular with the usual suspects on here...
