No, because people aren't suggesting he be sacked for watching porn. They're suggesting he be sacked because the many things he has written imply that he's unsuitable for an important post involving young people.

"Non-executive member of the board for the new Office for Students" (one of 15 I think?) isn't exactly a high profile government position is it?
Quite.

FB is full of "May appointed him as the new regulator"... Umm, no.

The Chief Exec was appointed last summer, politically independently. The press release describes her as...

Nicola Dandridge is currently Chief Executive of Universities UK (UUK), a sector body that supports UK universities by working directly with government, the private sector, the professions and sector agencies. Nicola has been at UUK since September 2009. She was previously Chief Executive of the Equality Challenge Unit, a higher education agency that works with the sector to promote equality for staff and students. Before joining the Equality Challenge Unit, Nicola was a lawyer, qualified in both England and Scotland and working in private practice.
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/chief-executive...
So both of her previous public-sector appointments were during the Labour government...

Six of the 15 board members were carried over from the predecessor body, the rest were appointed after an open application process.

Notice that I'm going nowhere near whether Young was the right man for the job...

A bigger question would possibly be - why is there no student representative on the board of this group?

Can't see any logical reason why the NUS haven't been invited to be part of it.

If you've ever experienced the NUS then you'd know why you wouldn't want them involved.

I avoided them - was a ULU - member instead. However doesn't change the point that a body set up to regulate and ensure competition in education doesn't appear to have any student representation on the board at all.

Great start to the year for The Tories. The reshuffle was also a big success I believe

Been the same for decades.

When ever there is a controversy, and the PM (of any party) gives you their full backing, its just code for start packing up your desk now.
