How can we tell that the product works if you can't see her hair ?

Is it really that easy to sell beauty products to women ? Could we sell them snake oil ?

It's sure to upset the easily offended and get the brand shared around much more than most shampoo adverts as a result biggrin

Are you really choosing your shampoo by "seeing how well it works" on the advert? laugh

Long gone are the days when I needed shampoo, but surely the point of advertising is to show the product or its performance ?

That said I could start to sell del mar's penis enlargement products if I don't need to show the results !

I shave my head, it's about time L'Oreal embraced true inclusiveness and included us in their shampoo ads.

Don't give them ideas, next we'll have Patrick Stewart and Jason Statham advertising L'Oreal head moisturiser.

How are you supposed to know how good that shampoo makes your hair look if you can't see the models hair? confused
Do you think any of the models in a hair advert have just washed their hair with the product and put a comb through it? laugh

Ellie Golding uses Pantene:

These girls use L'Oreal:

How good do you think the shampoo makes your hair look based on those adverts? hehe

Is it really a big deal? Pretty sure nobody ever believed hair looks like it does in the adverts just from using a shampoo anyway.

Not the last time I checked no. I just don't think it's news that the marketing of pretty much any beauty product is style over substance.

Radio ad yesterday for Boots was offering vouchers and freebies to Black and Asian women to try their beauty products.
I could just imagine the outrage is such an offer was made to "white" women!

There'd be no need for such an ad. "Try our new foundation for free at Boots" is always going to include options for white women in this country. It would be different in India or an African country.

Minorities might ignore an ad if they've become used to the product/service not suiting them. Targeting white consumers explicitly would make sense where they're in a minority.

What if you 'identify as a black person'?
