For a while my local shell garage has charged a 9p per litre premium compared with standard unleaded but I've noticed several garages now charging 14p per litre more, which is more inline with the premium BP used to charge for Ultimate.

Those of you who use VPower, how much more expensive is it at your local petrol station than standard unleaded?

TBH I don't even notice what price it is. I have to fill mine up with v-power due to the mods/remap so that's that

BP is st. Tesco and the mighty v power are the best. Down my local it’s a choice of petrol / diesel or red diesel

I use v power unleaded which works out about 9-10p extra compared to normal unleaded. Have to use premium and car runs like new

Personally, I won't use anything else, but that's because everything else is more expensive.

(The general consensus seems to be that it's the same as the Tesco Momentum 99? - though this appears to be guesswork, based on the fact that there's not many places that supply 99 RON petrol.)

Shell owned garages are normally fixed (from what I remember it was around 8p per litre extra)

Franchises could charge extra..I'd seen it up to 15p per litre more than regular

The challenge is if you are not using your local one knowing which one you are using as the signs only display diesel / normal unleaded unless you drive right up to the pump and get out

Yes, I've noticed Shell seem to charge at least 10p a litre more, whereas Tesco/Sainsburys only charge about 5p a litre.

Is it really that much better? laugh

And Sainsbury's should call their super unleaded "Taste The Difference".

Thanks for the replies. My local Shell garage isn't that competitively priced these days IMHO - currently 123.9 for unleaded and 126.9 for diseasal, however their VPower unleaded is 'only' 9p a litre more expensive.
I've been using Tesco 99 recently instead - 123.9p which is a 5p premium over Tescos standard UL. Have to say it doesn't feel any different to VPower when driving.

Yesterday I passed a Shell garage which was 120.9 for unleaded but VPower was 134.9p so despite being 3p a litre cheaper than my local garage the VPower was actually 2p a litre more expensive. A few other garages in the North East have recently changed from other brands to Shell and according to the PetrolPrices website they are also charging 14p more per litre for VPower.

I was just curious as to whether Shell had recently hiked the price up for VPower or whether it was down to the specific garages charging more of a premium.

It's all marketing. As you can see in this thread, everyone believes Shell is the best available...with what data? No data, pure marketing over the years.

Struggling with this as well.

Always used vPower but when the local Shell is £1.24 for standard I have a Tesco locally that does Momentum and a Sainsbury's that does super unleaded for £1.14 it's pretty damned difficult to justify.

I think vpower is roughly 11ppl More than standard near me. I am sceptical as to whether it is worth it.

I normally use tesco momentum as it is only an added 5ppl and 99ron. Does anyone actually know if v power is that much better than tescos.

On a side note is it only me who fking hates the predictive text thing on here? Seems to get half way through a word and then st itself. Maybe it's just me.
