You are correct I know zilch about your business. But the fact remains that the EU has never prohibited you trading with the RoW so the fact they are willing to do so now is likely to have sweet FA to do with brexit.

I suspect you just weren't willing to put in the extra work previously. risible

Wrong AGAIN:
There has been a significant change of attitude amongst our RoW partners/customers/clinical units. The prospects of the Uk being outside of the protectionist Eu has opened many doors expanding our plans with significant long-term opportunities for development/trade partnerships. We are acting quickly to maximise these.

Do try to ask questions rather than make statements (or poorly hidden attempts at insults) about things you know feck all about, you may learn.

Didn't you read his post Slapper?
He's out in the garden, like me, before the heavens open later (according to the experts, Met Office. They're like the EU, get every forecast cocked up!).

You really should get out and get some sun Slasher (sorry, I said Slapper, easy mistake now!).

Said it before. Your life is passing you by. Rapidly. Wake up before it's too late!

I'm oot(side) now to grab some D.
Bet you're petrified of the sun aren't you, like you're petrified of Brexit? Sad.

Must add:
Just read that you won't confront a 'known' to you racist - a close friend of the family - that is really odd. Even I could not let that pass. You know what, Slasher, by not confronting her, YOU are part of the problem YOU never stop harping on about. I would really think about it if I was you. Find a quiet corner (oh, you're already in one!) and THINK!

You are correct.

However

1) There is nothing to prevent us crafting FTAs with all non-EU countries who make washing machines and then slapping a big old tariff on them as part of our WTO rates

2) I also suspect our WTO schedule could be crafted to achieve not dissimilar results. I appreciate oranges are quite different to washing machines (anyone who has tried to wash clothes in an orange will be able to confirm), but WTO schedules can be quite complex and don't necessarily level playing fields. Look at the EU's orange tariffs.
I fear you give the Government too much credit.

laugh
Perhaps.

But then if the current government compromise our position by leaving us effectively in the control of the EU, I won't vote for them next time.

If they do put us back in the driving seat ref our own arrangements, but fail to capitalise on it, I won't vote for them next time.

a) What role do you have in your company?
b) What time is the BBQ?
c) What business reasons are your ROW partnerships coming to you? (other than UK is not in the protectionist EU which is not a sound business reason?)
d) How much Cidre have you got?

Thanks

Mike

They have a LOI from their new ROW trading partners. The LOI states when the punitive tariffs due to the EU not negotiating cease and the UK have negotiated new trade deals the company will get new orders. Based on this new LOI, the company is investing money in upscaling production and in new product development. Obviously, these new products will be compliant with FDA regulations or whatever jurisdiction they are now trading in (which the business hadn't considered before).

Edit for accuracy and more sense! smile
Well, a bit more sense, anyway. I can't see many businesses upscaling production solely based on a Letter of Intent with a largely indeterminate "when" clause like that. I can believe they have the letter, and I can believe that production is being upscaled, etc, but I can't see you could reasonably base any major business decisions on such a letter.

One saving grace is that whatever awful agreement we end up with, it'll be easier to extract ourselves from it than from the EU itself.

I'm not sure it will tbh. Not unless we get a government with some spine and direction.

“Slapper” - your respect for women shines through.

I am quite enjoying this outrage at my recent confession that I don’t tend to challenge casual racism when uttered by frail old ladies I’ve known for decades.

Oh to have the perfect record on challenging racism that some obvious equality and diversity heros like Dandarez can claim.

It doesn’t seem to occur to them that readers may wonder why these same characters have failed to tackle any of the sometimes blatant bigotry on display on PH? Some have been on the same threads......

Funny that.

Perhaps they assume nobody will make that connection - they obviously didn’t!

Outrage?
I don't think anyone is outraged by your confession, and most definitely not in the least bit suprised.

Has anyone got any idea when the german car companies will start putting pressure on so that they don't lose the uk as an export market? . I am sure that i was told on here that they would not allow the EU play hard ball?

That can't happen until we're talking about the trade deal. We are still not talking about the trade deal, unfortunately.

But we are talking about the SM/CU now - which is relevant to the discussion. Think of those German car supply chains.
