45th President of the United States, Donald Trump. (Vol 4)
Discussion
A lot of these school shooters are armed to the teeth with assault rifles and masses of ammo etc, yet these school guards have only a pistol and limited ammo I'd imagine.
As for Trump, I find it rich that he wants teachers to wade into armed confrontation when he used his bone spurs excuse to forever avoid anything of the kind.

Yeah but, Trump's armed teachers would be specially trained killers and paid bonuses, small bonuses, not a donut munching deputy who's being walking around the school yard since 2009!Bill said:
Poor sap. He's going to be vilified.
I'm pretty sure I wouldn't rush in on my own to confront someone with an assault rifle.
Not sure many would want to! But I am torn on this one - it was the job he signed up for. He could have at least tried. But extreme fear does extreme things to people. He absolutely wont deserve the absolute hell coming his way though now.I'm pretty sure I wouldn't rush in on my own to confront someone with an assault rifle.
Now think about Trump's plan to have teachers running a wild west shoot off in a school hallway. Insanity.
I suspect he never really thought he might face an active shooter, he was there to stop minor trouble. Even the park rangers are armed in the US, so him having a gun doesn't mean anything.
He was also alone. It'll be interesting to know how much training he had and whether he was meant to go in, wait for back up and liaise with the proper cops when they arrive.
His suspension could.just have been standard after being in an active shooter situation.

Quite possibly we dont know the facts yet. His boss definitely seems to have thrown him under the bus already though. He wont be able to turn public opinion no matter what may have actually happened. He was also alone. He thinks there should be a rating system for movies and games!
He is right on one thing though - we do have this bizarre double standard in media where death and violence is fine, yet swearing and nudity is forbidden (The Walking Dead is a good example)Orange45 said:
We have to look at the Internet, because a lot of bad things are happening to young kids and young minds, and their minds are being formed. And we have to do something about maybe what they’re seeing and how they’re seeing it, And also video games. I’m hearing more and more people say the level of violence in video games is really shaping young people’s thoughts. And then you go the further step and that’s the movies. You see these movies, they’re so violent and yet a kid is able to see a movie if sex isn’t involved, but killing is involved. Maybe they have to put a rating system for that.

I can't deny that he has a valid point, for me personally it has always been a bizarre dichotomy.Although the US is probably the prime culprit, but I would say the film and TV industry in general (which of course, is dominated by Hollywood) has a massive fixation with guns and murder.
You only have to look at the short trailers that are shown in cinemas and TVs (including the BBC) for new films and drama productions and note how many times these trailers show people pulling or brandishing firearms.
A gun is a massively powerful cultural symbol. Indeed it is an icon - and in a drama, especially a trailer, it instantly alerts the viewer to danger, drama, excitement, threat of death, tension etc.
We almost expect dramas to feature shootings these days - and not just American ones.

I must be one of those people who have not discovered this?
From what I have read due to increased law enforcement statistically more crimes now are done with fake firearms because of
1. Real weapons harder to get.
2. Less penalties compared to using a real firearm.
Your counterpoint?

Stolen for elsewhere, but this highlights the insanity... School shootings in the future:
Teacher becomes automatic 1st target in any school shooting scenario.
Teacher themselves uses weapon on pupils/colleagues - either on purpose or by accident when "responding" to a school shooting/imagined incident
Teacher is killed by 1st responders.
Teacher is killed by another armed teacher, thinking the 1st teacher is the shooter.
Teacher kills a pupil by mistake after thinking they were about to shoot someone.
Teacher's gun is left unsecured, shooter uses it, teacher is vilified.
Teacher is unable/unwilling to respond as intended, becomes hate figure in American press. ruins their life and that of their family.
Teacher responds as intended and kills shooter, but has to live with taking a life for the rest of their days - BEST OUTCOME, REMEMBER
