I equate politics with the application of power up to and including the State sanctioning acts of murder whether by declaring war or by Intelligence agencies. Whinging about a restaurant doesn’t really hack it for me on a list of things to give a fk about. Well, ever.Machiavelli formalised most of the rules 500yrs ago, that everyone from Xerxes to Octavian to Churchill to Putin would recognise. Nothing has changed.
Politics is the art of getting things done. Morality plays no part other than as a consideration of whether or not how you act may or may not impede your ability to get things done.

She should be marching with burning torches chanting "you will not replace us".
Then she would be waaaaaaaaay more my cup of tea.

Alright Coyft? I see you're still here, not supporting Trump, but posting many many replies in support of Trump, because balance?
I'd respect you much, much more if you just said you like the guy.

I’m warming to him.
I can’t imagine there are many people out there who would say they liked Donald Trump as a person. He’s clearly egotistical, misogynistic and a pathological liar as all of those things have been proven time and time again, personally I could never warm to someone that possessed such characteristics but I could find myself supporting some of their policies.

I particularly like his ability to reduce his opponents to either invoke Godwin's law or faux support through sarcasm.
Interestingly (?) invoking Godwin's Law is a way of dismissing something real. Holocaust scholars are talking about the similarities in the USA right now. Food for thought surely, even for a Trump fan?coyft said:

Of all the abilities to have, that's probably a major one. Many's the time I've been reviewing my CV thinking "if only I could invoke Godwin's law".Although admittedly my sarcasm capability isn't too bad.

There are no parallels between the rise/taking of power by the Nazi's and Trump/USA except in the mind of those that get overexcited. Please, considering you regard me as undereducated on the period/subject, can you point me to the "historians" that are drawing these enlightening comparisons.
(FYI, the 30's includes the period when the Nazis were still "on the rise". Until the Hindenburg appointment of AH to Chancellor and then the Enabling act in March 33 Germany was still "Pre Nazi".
It took untill late 34 to cement this with the changes to the Judges/Direct powers etc.)

Top googling. Unless you’re a lecturer in the subject. Which I doubt. It took untill late 34 to cement this with the changes to the Judges/Direct powers etc.)
