KFC in the UK switched meat transportation from Bidvest to DHL and has had to close a lot of 'restaurants' as a result.

They say that the delivery schedule is complex- surely in the first instance they could have replaced each Bidvest vehicle 1-for-1 with a DHL vehicle? Any rearrangement could then have been done in small doses.

I love reading Twitter when stuff like this happens. Endless stories of how dinner has been ruined, children crying and general DailyMailesque sad faces all round.

Council quality!!

They'd better have crispy strip meals.

KFC have really dropped DHL in it, very blatantly blaming the issues on their new delivery partner. Surely an operation of that size and importance requires both companies to work together on the delivery schedule. Not convinced the problems can be 100% attributed to one partner.

Normally with these things it’ll be the same lorries with the same drivers being tuped over. None of these big firms actually own anything they’ll just transfer the rental agreements.

It’s well regarded that the quickest way to bugger up a contract is to give it to DHL!

Maybe the Kent councillor who wants to ban all lorries should take note of this situation...

One assumes that DHL, when bidding for the contract, would have made assurances that they could handle it and would have made internal logistical arrangements to cover it. When the contract goes live, it's entirely down to them to move the product from A to B on the day. The fact that KFC have so openly blamed DHL for the delivery issues suggests that they are entirely confident that DHL are responsible for the failure. I would expect them to be more conciliatory if they had bungled it.

It's a good advertising opportunity though, as they get to remind everyone they sell fresh chicken and now everyone is thinking about and talking about KFC.

I love it and loathe it in equal measure. It really makes me despair at how entitled some people are.

I like KFC every now and then, but not to the extent where I’d become angry at them not being open!

People who work at KFC only ever seem to have half clue. If you go to McD, then the people there have noticeably more clue.

I've been to KFCs in normal opening hours, without any meat substitution crisis, and they have still been out of chicken.
