Watched the whole programme. Exactly as I thought it would be.

A vigilante group would be frowned upon and probably too dangerous but that makes me want to retaliate. And I’m a fairly balanced person.not sure what the solution is.

This was a huge problem where I live in Kuala Lumpur, then about 4 years ago, the car park attendants knocked a thief of his bike, and by the time the Police arrived he had been kicked to death, no one prosecuted, but amazingly it is no longer an issue.
When you have the situation of the police can't pursue and nominal fines what do you expect? ( Note I get my info on the police not pursuing from the Daily mail web site so I accept it could be wrong).
I'm not condoning kicking the guy to death, but there is a real correlation between crime, the chance of being caught and the consequence of being caught.

I know what these scooter punks are doing is wrong, but you could also say this crime is a stupid tax for the people who are blindly walking along totally immersed in their phones, it does beg the question that are these the same type of people I see every day using their phones while driving or sitting at a green light for at least ten seconds until someone toots their horn, then they suddenly wake up from their slumber and drive through a green to yellow light causing major misery to others sat behind them as the lights let two more cars through before they turn red again, or the smidsies who pull out without looking ....... If so then they deserve their phones to be stolen. On that programme it clearly shows people immersed in their phones crossing the road without looking up once full of their own self importance. On a number of occasions now I have had to say LOOK UP to a " phone " before they walk straight into me walking down the street

It's the fact that this crime has caused misery for us lot trying to get bike insurance in London.

What a load of drivel

None of this happened did it, Yipper.

So in your society, you deserve to be robbed, and / or injured for using your phone in public? Great guy you are...

You've never told anyone to "look up" in the street.

It's not a major misery to be delayed a minute at a junction, and if it is, YOU'RE the waiting at the green light for 10 seconds before hitting the horn...

Is this place filling with more 'internet hardmen' than ever before, or is it the same as it was? I'm sure it's getting worse! hehe

Not supporting the thieves, in fact I think they are scum.

But watching that clip you can't help but think how easy people have made it for them to succeed (with the phone thefts) which only goes to feed the further theft of bikes/scooters.

Surely education of the public and police on streets should be a priority rather than pushing the responsibility to bike manufacturers?

I'm very sorry mr toblerone, I think you have confused me with someone else. You have jumped on me for no apparent reason because you seem to think I'm someone else on here.
Look through my posts and I introduced myself on the biker banter forum a couple of weeks ago.
I haven't come on and started giving you abuse, and I would prefer if you wouldn't give me stick for being one of your enemies on here, I would also like to suggest that the "Internet Hardman" as you put it is actually yourself unfortunately.
And as for you not minding people using their phones without due care and attention whilst in charge of a vehicle just shows how much of a knob you really are "smiley face"
Sorry op for the thread being derailed somewhat

Ok, so you might be somewhat lacking in brainpower, or purposefully misunderstanding my points.

I haven't "jumped on you" at all.. it might surprise you, but this isn't an echo chamber, so people may have differing opinions.

Re read my post. I didn't say that people driving with phones was cool. I said walking around with phones wasn't a problem. And that I highly doubt you've ever told anyone walking around in zombie-mode on their phones to 'look up'.

Your post you say yourself it's a huge inconvenience if someone is so slow that you miss a turn going through the lights. It's not, unless you're so highly strung and so stressed out that you can't wait a few minutes extra.

Also, I called you Yipper as your post smacks of his wind-up nature. He says stuff that he obviously knows will get attention and draw comments, usually because it's anywhere from bizarre to obviously antagonistic...

Surely if the phone companies made them so they were truly bricked that would be most of the game over. But they don’t. They get sent off to Africa and sold, and are in use.

Ha so now you are saying I lack your obvious intelligence ? Ok pal if you say so.
As for me saying to someone to look up when they nearly walked into me oblivious while using their handset, no you rumbled me I made it all up to try to make friends and influence people.
And as for some annoying ahole using their phone and ignoring the traffic lights yes it does fking annoy me that I may have been held up by some dick updating their status on ttter or facebook, especially as the only people who are held up are all the people behind the ahole breaking the law using their fking phone whilst driving.... I hope that none of your loved ones are on the receiving end of the actions of a selfish driver texting or surfing the internet while in charge of their vehicle,
And by the way last time I looked I'm sure it was illegal to use your phone while driving,
Would you sympathize with a drink driver if they killed someone with their car ? No so why would you when they caused an accident whilst distracted ?
The only reason why you are defending the actions of phone users is because you are probably one of those annoying pricks that use your phone when behind the wheel

Touched a nerve did I?!

Also, if we're honest, the consequences of texting while stationary at the lights is just a little bit less severe than the same at NSL on a B road / A road / motorway, wouldn't you say? Not that I'm condoning it any circumstance, but let's have a bit of perspective here, feller.

And who's to say that there's a phone involved at all? Modern 'infotainnent' screens in cars are, for the most part, bloody distracting (in my opinion). Also, new driver, change in light sequence, new car (refer back to the infotainment screens) etc. It's holding you up literally seconds, friend. No need to be so irate.

Last time I drove a new car (hire car Vauxhall Mokka - hateful thing), I couldn't believe how much was expected of my congnition to drive and use the controls. Really bad idea.

For the record, and I'll state it clearly for you, as you may have a hard time extracting information for stuff not written in ladybird my first book style, I do not use mobile devices while driving. And as mentioned before, I don't condone their use either.

Your explosive reaction to have people aggressively robbed for using their phones - legally using their phones in many cases - however, is frightful and, I think, disgusting. I guess you've never been robbed by force at knife or gun point. It will not be a pleasant experience, I can quietly assure you.

So please, the only person displaying the 'internet hardman' routine here, is you.

I am a Londoner born and bred, years ago I was told to keep my cash in the front pocket, I still do. By the same token, I never walk blindly with my phone, if not using it, it is in the inside pocket of my jacket or front pockets of trousers. it's really simple to keep your possessions safe.
