Tauchmeister, any good?
Discussion
I have this one - http://www.tauchmeisterwatches.com/tauchmeister-t0...
I am really impressed with it, its built like a tank, keeps excellent time and feels really solid. Mines around 4 years old now and hasn't missed a beat.
If you dropped it on a rolex i swear the rolex would shatter

I've had a couple. They're chinese watches with cheapish movements. If you can pick them up for around £50 then do so. They're not worth the £100+ price tag you sometimes see. For that kind of price, you should be looking at a Seiko SKX something or other.
I note that they say they are using Sea-Gull movements. They did use Miyotas. Dunno which is better but they'll probably be fine for a beater watch.

Yes, they look pretty good. In the UK you can order a 1000m dive version for £143, which is pretty good value. The mechanical versions are driven by a Seagull movement, which from experience I can tell you are reliable and accurate.
Has anyone tested them for depth? Me painting 1000m on my TV won't make it 1000m waterproof. Who would go out wearing this in public?
Those two HUGE things sticking out of the side of the watch could so some serious damage to your wrist.

I've got one of these. I wanted something cheap to use on holiday - beaches, pools etc.

Bought from a Spanish ebay seller who had done a 99p start and for some wierd reason had it finishing at 3am so only a couple of people bid. I sniped and got it for £35.
It's now nearly 10 years old and on a NATO strap. It gets used when I need something that doesn't matter and because of that it's taken a battering. However it's still reasonably accurate (1-2 minutes a week) and just keeps going. It suffered another holiday this year with a week on the med - swimming/snorkelling a few times a day.
I'd say buy one - they're fine if you can get one under £100.

I think they're the dive watch arm of Aeromatic, for which all of the above applies.
Yep. Again, nice/interesting watches for the ~£50 mark. That said, a lot of the more popular brands are jumping on the styling bandwagon, so you could probably pick up a similarly styled Sekonda or Accurist from the usual retailers with a decent guarantee if it stops working. (Obvs not the more extremely styled Tauchs.)

Was thinking of a reasonably priced beater and wondered about the brand's reliability?
I have one of these , and they are amazing. 43mm, 200m WR, sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel. well made comfortable bracelet, and a Miyota movement. Honestly, it's pretty faultless, and you will get one for about £80 on eBay. May take a week or so to arrive, but well worth itGassing Station | Watches | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
