We are about to move house so it's a perfect time to review what to do regarding TV / Phone / Broadband etc. Sky have been trying to flog me Sky Q but I really don't know if I want to increase my payments - I'd like quite the reverse in fact!

We have been a longstanding (15 yrs) customer of Sky, and currently have a single HD box. Phone and Broadband are via BT (Infinity 2) both paid for at the moment by my ltd company.

Where we are going has no cable so Virgin is out of the question. I can get Infinity 2 Fibre level service again though.

Viewing habits - we are on a package with no sport, but have movies, although probably only watch one or two a month from normal Sky Movies, and perhaps rent one a month from Box Office. We tend to record some of the better dramas from the standard channels, and some off Sky Atlantic etc, and watch a bit of normal programming.

So not wishing to keep lining Mr Murdoch's pockets for ever what are our options to keep the following functionality :

- Ability to watch std selection of channels in HD/good quality
- Ability to record / download shows
- Would be great if the kids can watch stuff independently (currently use Sky Go for this in their rooms)
- Must be able to watch next season of GoT!

I have no idea where Freeview / Freesat etc are at currently as we have relied solely on the Sky Box for years. We are open to binning Sky and signing up to Netflix / Amazon ertc but still want to watch "normal telly" in good quality. We could combine TV/Phone/Broadband for better value although having the ltd co paying for some if it offsets costs a little.

What's the best combo of services / boxes / dongles / sticks / etc that will give us everything / save us money/ generally bring peace to the household?!

Cheers

15 years, you'll be a "Gold VIP" when you ring up to ask about changing your package. I called up to cancel Sky Movies last year, and they talked me into re-signing with them for another 18 months but gave me half price Sky Movies and lowered the cost of my broadband whilst simultaneously upgrading me to Sky Fibre. Oh and some other "VIP Rewards" stuff as well, all for having been a long-standing customer etc etc...

Worth talking to them at least

This.
Firestick is the best thing since sliced bread! Why anybody would pay a Sky subscription is beyond me.
Sky Q I think is overrated, & anyway, if you've got fast broadband, the whole thing will be available dish-free soon.

On-demand is now of age - why bother recording anything?
