How do we think EU negotiations will go? (Vol 3)
Discussion

That’s possible but very unlikely. Although no prediction is certain, the most likely outcomes for the UK over the next few years are all very bad. I don’t think that’s in any doubt. The optimistic projections are very speculative and unlikely to prove correct, relying as they do on a series of very unlikely events all occurring.

It’s that kind of attitude that I simply cannot understand.
‘Let’s go back to how it used to be!’
It used to be thoroughly crap. The UK has no record of post-war economic prosperity outside the EU. It was an absolute basket case of an economy.
Total bks than...‘Let’s go back to how it used to be!’

Of course we were spending a fortune on defence/British space race/Concord etc etc during that earlier period, so it might not have seemed great to many people.

Wrong again. ‘Let’s go back to how it used to be!’

The UK economy was significantly improving and among the best from the early 80s on.
It certainly didn’t improve under the EU and has certainly declined in the last decade whilst a member.
The same goes for the economies of several of the larger EU members, but it’s hardly surprising when the organisation’s run by self centred egomaniacs and drunks.
But then you’re probably one of the airheads who think we joined the EU in the 70s.

Obviously the rest of the world are sitting there waiting for us to leave the EU before they start buying from us. The rest of the world don't have the technology to be able to produce anything for themselves. The UK economy was significantly improving and among the best from the early 80s on.

Thank heavens that we have nothing but the best people running our country.
Is this right ?

The EU clearly laid out their position right at the very start, and have barely changed it since. It's us that have all the daft ideas of what we want the post-Brexit relationship to look like.
The EU aren't asking for the moon on the stick.
They are merely ensuring that whatever position he UK ends up in, it is no better than what we have now.
The EU will obviously never agree to a deal that magically leaves us with benefits of EU membership, plus the alleged benefits of being out of the EU.
That would be stupid.
Gosh and there was the UK thinking it was a negotiation.....The EU aren't asking for the moon on the stick.

What are these series of events? (list will do)How many are there? (your list should confirm)
What makes them unlikely to occur?
Do they (events) all need to happen at the same time for them to be successful?

There is a reason that it is irritating to you.
Yes, because it is bks, and no-one has claimed any such thing.Likewise:

The EU is a faultless organisation. Anything good that has happened to the UK has been entirely due to being in the EU. Anything negative that has happened to the EU has been entirely our own fault.
The answer to any possible scenario for the UK is 'more EU' and that is the only way the country can be a success.
etc

Anyone would think that the EU knows a thing or two about negotiating.
I'm sure we will be better when it comes to the rest of the world.
I am sure you are right...Lets compare how many FTAs the EU have compared to Australia...I'm sure we will be better when it comes to the rest of the world.
Australia has ten FTAs currently in force with China, Japan, Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, US, Chile, the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) (with New Zealand) and Malaysia.
Now the EU …
South Korea,
Oh....
