If you were a male escort, would you just shag 'anything' .. if they were 5/10 you might do it but if they were really really ugly or their down below smelt like anchovies you'd pass? Especially, anything oral.

Well, poor hygiene is a different matter. I suppose without knowing at what stage the person was "turned down" - I assumed at the outset and may be mistaken.

However, again I would assume that a male prostitute is unlikely to have Cindy Crawford and other supermodels as their main clientele?

I decided to take a look at what mumsnet thought about this topic, glad I did because it was rather surprising. Oddly they seem to be a lot less tolerant than this thread has been, regarding it as a big red flag. I'd think a shy guy is much less likely go about cheating on them.

TBH, I have no problem with people wanting to put their own personal happiness first and foremost. But I reject the idea that men are "hard done by".

Being a middle aged divorcee, I do spend a fair bit of time with other middle aged divorcees. I guess that's why I know a lot of these things (and am a little surprised they aren't common knowledge).

Most blokes who went through divorces in their 20's and 30's are fine but there are a few who could just never get over it and just end up being bitter and angry people. I kind of pity them. I want to tell them "Good god man, she did you a favour, you're in the prime of your life and single". A not completely unattractive male in their 30's or 40's has a lot more options than they did in their 20s in my experience.

No dislike towards those who are married either mind you, If you're happy, I'm happy for you.

Did the article didn't say why. There are a few reasons why a prostitute would turn someone down that have nothing to do with you. Prostitutes are women too, so they might be tired or have something coming up or just want to talk to their friends at the time you solicit them. One rejection is nothing to worry about, just move on.

If you get to the meat and potatoes of it (I will apologise for this terrible pun, but I'll still make it) and she wants out at that point there is something wrong. Its less to do with being shy or even unattractive (you have to have some serious hygiene problems for that to be an issue) but usually because the "lady" feels threatened.

I still say that the whole "turned down by a prostitute" bit of the article was clickbait sensationalist nonsense, and detracts from the issues being explored by said article and, by extension, this thread.

Of course it’s possible. They are not forced into having sex with you, they have a choice. If they think you are too ugly/smelly/whatever to have sex with you for money then they can turn you down. They are people you know, not machines.

Well, Kristine Keeler proved to be pretty picky.
Divine Brown, less so, but kudos, she did manage to snag Hugh Grant.

The MGTOW folks have just come to a similar sort of fish/bicycle conclusion as some 70's feminists. If that's what they want, I've no problem with that. They don't owe anyone a relationship.

I'm not even sure that's it. Reading the wiki (and a 10s look at reddit before backing away slowly), I'd say it was a group who were:
Men st at relationships (and/or)
Men that have been hurt in a past relationship (and/or)
Men unhappy with their lot looking for someone to blame.

In all cases, I'd call it a strange defense mechanism, not unlike when the fat angry ones die their hair red and decide that beauty is a flawed concept and all men are bds. "None of it is my fault, it's all the fault of (x)*"

x can be men, women, foreigners, tories, the unemployed, cyclists, truckers, ethnicities, religion, etc etc depending on which radical mentalist group you subscribe to on reddit (or worse, 4chan)...

It really appears to be the social version of taking your ball home because you're the sttest player on the pitch!

I would suggest its 65/35 For or Against tbh

It's not 100% against. Plenty of stories on the couple pages I scanned of women who've married inexperienced guys.

I'm far from a white knight but not sure on the need for the quotations. confused

Just because they are doing a different job, doesn't mean that away from work they are any less of a person. Some will have children, some might even care for elderly relatives.

I suspect that's the main driver. If every/most relationship you've had has fallen down. It would be easy for some guys to think "fk it, I wont bother" and decide to focus on their happiness, their work, their health, whatever.

My cursory look at MGTOW suggests that for every guy who clearly hates women and blames them. There's 2 guys who just choose what they consider an easier life by eschewing relationships. The latter also seem to do well in their personal endeavours. So it's taking a relative negative and making it a positive. So all power to them. I don't view them as sad or pathetic like some want to. It's their choice, their life. They aren't harming anyone as far as I can tell.

I think there’s two types; there’s the ones who have been shunned by women as they have no social skills (that 4chan shooter springs to mind) and there’s the previously divorced who have lost a lot (see them ones on here as well).

But mix in the men who hate women because they lost their house/money/children with the men who are shunned by women, it seems to build a breeding ground for the socially awkward to hate women.

I find it no different to the KKK or nazi’s, just the enemy is different. They all probably pigeon hole a group based on some of that groups actions and use it to fuel their own prejudices.

Just for clarity, are you suggesting that because I've not been in a relationship for almost ten years that I'm pretty much a Nazi or a torch wielding racist?

I think, perhaps, you might be a bit of a nutcase. And a nutcase full of his own prejudice at that.

I feel you are taking my post regarding the MGTOW group out of context.

Edit: actually to add I’m not sure why I’m even arguing with your straw man argument.
