So why do they clap?
Embarrassment?
Could very well be the reason. They are diplomats and ambassadors after all and they will have wanted to redress the rather sarcastic laughter with a bit of politeness. He is the President of the US, even if he is Donald Trump the showman.Embarrassment?

He's boasting about how much his administration has achieved. They openly laugh at him.
For a tiny miniscule fraction of time I nearly felt sorry for him there. then I remembered who he is.
Yeah, thanks. i got the general vibe, but I thought they laughed at something in particular that he said, that I couldn't make out.https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/104459781050150...

He seemed to take it well.

He took it well, that's why they clapped.Embarrassment?
Had he told them to "F**k off!" they probably wouldn't gave clapped.
He did look afterwards as if he'd been a bit taken aback by the laughing, and a little bit sheepish. He'd been caught out and knew it.
He probably rarely gets anything other than cheering from his fans whilst standing on a stage like that.
Haven't seen this mentioned, unless I've missed it?

PR firm used by Kavanaugh associate Ed Whelan to promote his theory exonerating Kavanugh was Creative Response Concepts, who just so happened to submit a FARA registration in 2005 for work done for...Victor Yanukovych. That's the same time period as Manafort. Additionally, CRC was who bought Kellyanne Conway's polling business, with her position on the Trump team meaning she could defer capital gains tax.
I'm sure all of that is mere coincidence and not the least bit swampy.

I see it from your side too.
But he's obviously a Trump stooge who will do what he's told and as every day goes by and more comes out, I'm more inclined to believe the accusers.
But even if I didn't, this man is clearly not fit to be a SCJ.
he's not fit to be a member of the bar, never mind a judge of any kind, SCOTUS or otherwise. But he's obviously a Trump stooge who will do what he's told and as every day goes by and more comes out, I'm more inclined to believe the accusers.

To play the devils advocate, bandwagons have formed over far lesser things and a lot of people, especially career driven people want their 15 mins of fame.
(note: I agree he's a complete scumbag, just trying to look from other perspectives).
There is no obligation to make up another perspective when that other perspective doesn't exist.(note: I agree he's a complete scumbag, just trying to look from other perspectives).

Kavanaugh giving a twenty minute interview to Fox tells me all I need to know.
A Supreme Court nominee giving an interview (read rebuttal of the accusations with no counter rebuttal) on a highly partisan television network? Give me a fking break.
Unheard of.

Except the legal age turned to 21 when Kavanaugh was 17
That he was a virgin. Not what he claimed says another witness

Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley confirmed that the committee has hired an outside counsel to question Christine Blasey Ford and Judge Brett Kavanaugh. The individual is a woman with expertise in sex crimes prosecution, an aide told CNN. They won't say it is 'to protect her from abuse' says Grassley.
Sen. Bob Corker says GOP senators were told at lunch to expect to be in DC this weekend to process Kavanaugh nomination quickly.
So thats a totally unbiased hearing, right before Republicans dismiss the victims and swiftly confirm their attacker.

Rumours swirling that the fourth accuser Avenatti was representing was actually a 4chan troll - Avenatti has suddenly made his Twitter account private.
If true, it's a bit of an own goal, one of those lies gone around the world before the truth has it's boots on. Most people will remember the accusation, fewer will realise it was fabricated.
Anyway I guess only three credible claims of sexual assault means Kavanaugh should be fine to serve on the supreme court.

What is credible though? That's the problem with claims like this, it is hard to prove it did or didn't happen. So it's hard to prove (or disprove) credibility. Especially after so much time. Any "I remember this" is likely to be modified with time due to the flexibility that memory actually is. (That is not taking away anything from anyone that has had any assault - just speaking scientifically. Some things would clearly be easy to remember/ impossible to forget though). Not to mention the (possible) problem of bias if everything is registered after something like the nomination. If true, it's a bit of an own goal, one of those lies gone around the world before the truth has it's boots on. Most people will remember the accusation, fewer will realise it was fabricated.
