White House correspondents association have joined the CNN suit against trump etc

"The White House is the People’s House, and the First Amendment does not permit the President to pick and choose which journalists do — and do not — cover him there," the WHCA argued. "Far from it, the First Amendment requires a compelling government interest — not whim, prejudice, or dislike — for the President to strip a journalist of his or her ability to report from the White House.

There's several reports that Jacob kohl and surefire intelligence are behind the accusations against Avenatti, just like the fake ones against Mueller

Avenatti isn't happy

Michael Avenatti
@MichaelAvenatti
First Mueller and now me. When we are fully exonerated I am coming for you Jacob Wohl aka Surefire.

Because there's no details at the moment and the accusations against Kavanaugh were numerous, verified by other, apart from that one fake that was quickly proved as fake.
If they were fake accusations, you'd have bet the GOP would have had the FBI investigate and expose them, rather than not allow them to.

I think after the Kavanaugh episode that people think they can weaponise accusations, Jacob Wohl tried it, plus it devalues say the 19 allegations against trump?

However, with everything Avenatti has said, I'd fully expect trump to make the most of it...
And yet nothing. He seems preoccupied with Mueller
There wasn't many details early on against Kavanaugh, they were built up over time. Yet many (rightly) were calling for them to be fully investigated, that Kavanaugh should not be assumed innocent as a few people said he was a good person. Yet it seems the assumption of guilt is mostly based on what side the person is batting for. As it was due to the idiotic Republicans playing ignore everything else at the cost of supporting your own party Kavanaugh wasn't properly investigated. Hopefully this will, and if it is framing then hopefully the people get done too. But it is surprising (not really) to see just how biased some people are on here. I also mentioned possible weaponising accusations early on in the Kavanaugh and was basically told to stop victim blaming before it was investigated.

I can understand if it was say Trump doing the accusing - he's long lost any credibility he might have had. But when we don't know who it is then you need to treat them the same way as the accusations against Kavanaugh, until we know one way or the other. Or you're doing the same as GOP (just not in a position of power to actually do anything about the bias).

Jerry Nadler, the incoming House Judiciary chair, has written to Matthew Whitaker and Chris Wray saying that he expects DOJ and the FBI to address the backlog of unanswered requests from Democrats that were blocked by Republicans over the last two years

Mueller Friday funtime is upon us folks.

Friday's nearly always deliver and with all the midterms stuff making everything go quiet I suspect fireworks are going to be going off like the 4th of July.

You missed vote counting still going on,
Although Broward County election officials said they uploaded their recount results two minutes past Florida’s 3 p.m. deadline so the state is not using the results. Instead they’re using the first unofficial results that were submitted on Saturday

That's handy for the GOP

AP are saying CA 45 has been won by the Dems, Katie Porter beating Mimi Walters, in was has been a GOP safeseat.

NY times are reporting that since the tax cuts were passed, the 1,000 largest public companies have actually reduced employment, on balance. They have announced the elimination of nearly 140,000 jobs, which is almost double the 73,000 jobs they say they have created in that time

Manafort sentencing delayed 10 days. So they're about to indict someone he's sold out and don't want to tip them off.
Manafort was in the trump tower meeting, as was Kushner and trump jr.

Just watched The Circus, it was mentioned that the next two years will get crazier and the gop shrinks and goes more extreme

Looking at the votes...I was interested to see that there are seven states that have less congressmen than senators! These are called 'at large' districts and cover the whole state. biggrin

It's because of the way the whole thing was set up. Every state gets 2 senators, regardless of size. At the time it was set up the population was tiny compared to today and they wanted everyone to have a voice. So California has the same number of senators as Rhode Island. Congressional districts are population based.

It seems a bit bonkers but I guess it prevents the bigger states from dominating everything.

That $200,000 membership of Mar-a-Lago looks worth it for some

Lana Marks as ambassador to South Africa is the 4th Mar-a-lago member to be offered positions
Robin Bernstein, a founding member of Mar-a-Lago: Ambassador to the Dominican Republic.
Patrick Park: Appointed ambassador to Austria but declined the honor.
Brian Burns: Appointed ambassador to Ireland but said no for health reasons.

just popped up on the feed...

Judge Timothy J. Kelly has just made an official ruling in the CNN v. White House case after journalist Jim Acosta had his press pass taken from him. Kelly has ruled in CNN’s favor, granting a temporary restraining order, meaning that Acosta will, for now, get his access back.
