Guido spotted this:

TWEET OF THE DAY
Every time Corbyn is criticised for sitting down with unsavoury characters (terrorists, basically) he says you have to talk to people you disagree with...

He does not extend that logic to sitting down with the Prime Minister to discuss Brexit

If that IS the case, then I over reacted, and I owe you an apology.
I didn’t see the post that you responded to, I haven’t followed every post on this thread, I am mildly concerned about Corbyn, but very concerned about McDonnell, I came to view this thread very late, in the wake of the Leaving the EU vote which Mrs. May lost.
I hope that you can understand that just seeing, “F**k the wealthy. The country will be accidental damage”, WITHOUT realising that you had posted it in response to another poster, led me to respond as I did.
I repeat, I’m sorry that I castigated you, without realising what had gone before.
No worries, nuance is easily lost in text.
Frank occasionally wanders into the eclectic but that post was very classy.
Tick VG for the Rotherhithe boy!

(And are they ever going to open the bloody tunnel up to vans again! Bar us from the tunnel and then take the bloody ferry's offline, who plans this nonsense!)

Pre conditions to talks always seemed to be the stumbling block when dealing with the IRA back in the day. Perhaps Corby works with learned behaviour from his friends and one or two current colleagues?

I rather have Gove than JRM, but they both suffer from Toryboy itus, and as such are I think unelectable.

Is there a more dishonest intellectual position than Corbyn’s current stance?

He is pulling an old favorite opposition and professional complainer trick. I can’t talk to you unless you already agree with me.

Convincing no-one. Luckily we have the very sensible Ledsom running the Parliamentary side of things. You cannot rule out a no deal exit, if you have not had a vote in Parliament on a deal !

Corbyn is a posturing tt. A hateful, odious reptile and as soon as he and his filthy pseudo Leninist followers crawl back down the st hole they came from the better.
Anyone else see parallels with Trump and his 'not playing unless you play by my rules and I'm taking my ball home' approach to politics?

According to t'internet, Corbyn's net worth is around £3 million, and Bragg's is £3.5 million.
I wonder if McDonell would secretly love to get his sticky paws on his fellow comrade's millions, all in the name of fairness of course...
I doubt he's quite as jealous/envious/hateful as some of the posters on here regarding someone else's cash.
It's the hypocricy I'm calling out, they both hate 'the rich' and want to take other people's wealth away despite being rich themselves, but I'm guessing you knew what I meant.
Yep. Me too.

I'd probably be considered reasonably well off. I’ve made my own way, paid all my taxes, and I'm quite happy with my lot. I really wouldn't want to be seriously wealthy, and I don't envy anyone, but I do loathe the hypocrisy of rich socialists.

I once worked with a bloke who was our trade union rep. He dressed like Millie Tant from Viz - shiny Doc Martens, straight cut Levis with outside turn-ups, donkey jacket, Palestinian-style scarf, and beret. He was always preaching about the oppressed masses, and even advocated armed struggle against the ruling classes. Turned out that he was privately educated, that his father was a rich lawyer, and that he lived in an enormous gated house.
I doubt either of them hate the rich. They just see the financial settlement in a slightly more progressive way. That doesn't make them hypocrites. Same for less well-off people who vote tory - they are not traitors to the working class etc, just people who hold a certain philosophical/political point of view.

Not a Labout supporter, btw, just fed up reading this tribal nonsense.
Not a Labour supporter either, not anymore anyway but I don't see it as tribal nonsense. I know it's a cliché, especially on here and I dare say you'll differ, but the politics of envy rings true in this case. I work alongside grown men who spout the 'hate the rich' stuff constantly, it's really quite sad and pointless.
'Hate the Rich' is the very soapbox he is orating from. 'For the many, not the few' implies this directly. Rather like that choice Orwell quote about all animals being equal but some are more equal than others, his 'many' and 'few' obviously don't include him or his ilk.

I have sympathies for some left-wing predilections but there is nothing quite as reprehensible as a will to power dressed in a cloak of compassion.

I don't think you can say he hates the rich.
You can want to create a better system a fairer system and you can be against people who make money via scams and tax schemes etc etc.

The problem is that if you are 'poor' and you talk of wanting a better system you get called bitter, if you are 'rich' and want a better system for all you are called a hypocrite.
Essentially what you are asking for is that once you make a certain crust you have to become a st bag.
You don't....

He's said not to the deal, no to a referendum, no to no deal. So he's ruled out every option we currently have, and not suggested any new ones. Of course Theresa can't take no-deal off the table, until someone suggests a way to achieve that.

He keeps saying a general election will sort out the mess. Never says how it will.

The man was stuck on the back benches for 30 years for good reason.

I considered my ex-colleague to be hypocritical with good reason. At the time I was living in a small council house and financially supporting my widowed mother. I was too busy working to be an active socialist.

BTW, if you want tribalism, then look no further than Corbyn and his cronies.

Corbyn is doing what he can to force a GE...... at any long term cost.
Farage did what he could to force a referendum.... at any long term cost.

Same coin different sides?

Nah, they're both posh blokes with working class aspirations. Corbyn thinks he's Wolfie Smith, and Farage thinks he's Arthur Daley.

Corbyn is a member of the Privy Council; he has always advocated negotiation, discussion and dialogue; he is prepared to talk to Hezbollah, IRA, PLO, butbrefuses to join a discussion about his country’s current serious dilemma! What a complete .

Not at all.

Evidence - record voter turnout - shows that the referendum was very much what the people did want.

Whereas Marxism is the desire of a (fortunately) tiny group of stupid, gullible or blindly devoted people.

So no.

Just out of interest, how much am I allowed to earn before I can't be a socialist any more ?

And how big can my house be ?
