I don't need to do the presenting - I agree with the Scientific Consensus. Putting forward a case against that is the deniers responsibility. I merely respond to that.

confused Who's that then?

Yeah, first thing you've said that I can believe.

Yeah Dickymint, still smarting from getting banned is now trying to provoke posters into abusing him so he can report them and get them banned.

That’s why he’s calling everyone trolls and trying to control the thread. rofl

Shame on you, I thought you old retired posters were wiser than that.

Unless it's list based, he doesn't seem able to respond to much.
I'm genuinely surprised you guys even respond to him. He's loving this and has most of you wound right up!

I know...I just can't grasp that either people are that dim, or genuinely have nothing better to do than troll to such a degree.
He's not dim, he knows exactly what he is doing. By acting the clown and getting a reaction without presenting any topical discussion, he is able to pull the thread down with him. He knows that people will tune out and that is what he seeking to achieve. It's quite pre-meditated, and the responses are enabling the behaviour.

You can see that some thread contributors have already figured this out and don't respond to it.

It is the equivalent of trying to have a conversation on Bayesian vs Frequentist reasoning with a two year old. It ends up with the child screaming for a poo poo and you wondering where your afternoon went.

I now know where the poo went, and it has landed here.

Do you direct your 'smashing' or is it uncontrolled?

Back to my lunch.
same source as previously, shock, horror,an actual scientist making the exact same criticisms of some modern day scientists and their practices some people on here have made. if you and particularly el stovey read the link you would understand many scientists themselves understand there is a problem with science in general these days.

"Academic research is often funded, at least in part, by taxes. Yet many scientists try to become rent seekers, keeping data and code resulting from public funding to themselves indefinitely, or until they feel they have exhausted its main value. This is morally murky. To “publish” the resulting research behind a paywall, inaccessible to the general public, is even more troubling. Scientific publishing is big business,52 and its interests are not those of science or scientists. Open data, open software, and open publication may provide better value for society53 and a better ethical foundation for science."

it doesn't do any harm. i have been hit over the head with a bit of 4 x 2 , a brick, fallen off a roof ,quite a few motorbike crashes (all sub 70mph thankfully) and a while ago now, punched in the face many times by people a lot bigger than me (mainly when sparring at the local boxing gym ) so a wee tickle from gadgetloonymactunes, with the only spoon his mum deems safe for him to use on his own, will be fine biggrin

It has, and it is being lapped up. It adds nothing to the discussion, just seeks to disrupt. Engaging with it is enabling it.

These influences need to be ignored, unles they present something of genuine interest...then, maybe.

Your love for your spiritual leader is touching. (Probably quite literally)

Do you have to show such public deference to avoid the BBC watch duties that robinessex seems stuck with?

Is this the first cult you’ve been in? What’s the attraction? Seems a bit rubbish from the outside. Conspiracy theories and googling advocacy blogs and threatening people that call you a denier.

Wouldn’t it be better to join a walking club or the masons or something with a bit more joy and optimism?

You don’t teally believe this nonsense do you? Best tell TB you know he’s talking rubbish and get a better hobby.
he is a great man, inspiring even.

why would i want to do the same job as rob ? he has it covered well.

it's the second cult i have been a member of, i didn't like the gaia based one, howling at the moon wasn't for me and the woman were all a bit too hairy and smelled a bit strange. it is actually full of joy and optimism that we won't all be suffering thermageddon any time soon and mine and your childrens, childrens children will be fine. the believer cult is where the doom and gloom is at , remember ,you personally only have 12 years to save the world. hang that pilots cap up stovey, you know it makes sense for the planet.

to my knowledge i haven't threatened anyone that has called me a denier, never met anyone calling me that in person to ask them to explain in detail what exactly i am denying.

i get plenty of exercise when out fishing, and i don't think the masons would have me, i am a very open person.

it's not a case of believing anything, time will tell who was on the right side of the debate.

Yes, meanwhile I've been buried under the avalanche of your own non-evidence, misrepresentations, logic fails and outright pork pies.

Oh please do...<kneels down and prays>

Meanwhile, I've just done a background check - something I'm sure you'll have absolutely no idea about - and come up with yet another seat of science where the consensus is that AGW is true. Bet you can't wait smile Sadly I'm afraid you'll have to as one-a-day is the rule and I'm due elsewhere shortly.
