Syria downed Russia's spy plane....

.. because Israeli F-16s used it as cover — Russian top brass
From TASS.
According to Konashenkov, Israel had issued no warning to the command of the Russian military group in Syria of the forthcoming operation.
OR
"A hot-line warning was received less than one minute before the strike, which left no chance for taking the Russian plane to safety," he added.
Usual "misinformation" from Russia

A lot can happen in 60 seconds.
And it did.

Just a quick question for some reference point,..... why is Isreal sending planes to bomb targets within Syrian territory?
I don't recall Syria asking Isreal for help in defeating ISIS or Al Qaeda ?
Israel didn't need asking. They've been involved for ages. It's almost as if the Israeli government are less than keen on Islamic extremists having a foothold in a country that they share a border with. Who'd have guessed?I don't recall Syria asking Isreal for help in defeating ISIS or Al Qaeda ?

Hamas has bases in Syria, it is their supply route from Iran and perfectly legitimate target.I don't recall Syria asking Isreal for help in defeating ISIS or Al Qaeda ?

Is Hamas one of the friendly terrorists groups or one of the bad terrorist groups?I wonder that if the Syrian government had full control over its country's territory (ie. not having to fight the west) whether it would be able to rid terrorist/extremist groups from within its land all by itself?
I dare say that if the west succeeds with regime change in Syria, that another Libiya would result (power vacuum), and the whole area would become a proxy base for Iran, Russia, ISIS, Al Queda and others ?

I think you're confusing Hamas with Hezbollah, who have bases in southern Lebanon & have sent thousands of their fighters to help the Assad regime fight their enemies, together with the Russians. Iran is trying to set up military posts/training bases in Syria, & Russia is supplying weapons systems to Syria, which in turn is trying to forward them to Hezbollah in Lebanon, in exchange for their help.Israel then hits these weapons supplies destined to Hezbollah, & bases that Iran is setting up, & what do you know? Someone gets caught in the crossfire; I'm amazed this hasn't happened more regularly.
Repercussions? Russian sabre rattling & angry rhetoric I suspect this time round, but if/when there is another similar occurrence, things could get very tricky. Russia wants to avoid a direct confrontation at all costs, so ratcheting up the proxy war is the probable outcome.
