I noticed another women's health campaign is starting today for endometriosis.

Why do we never see similar campaign for mens health risks.

Apparently just asking that question makes me a misogynist.

Well we can't get endometriosis for one so a health campaign would be futile.

Growing a mustache, yes that is real concern.

Eh? confused It's for men's health issues including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. I raised £325 doing it 2 years ago. £325 for doing next to nothing. Why not give it a go?

Of course it doesn't. Deliberately ignoring any examples you're given that disprove your point might suggest it, though.

That is rather missing my point, it's fine raising funds for research by growing a tash and I've donated when colleagues have done it the last two years, but where are the actual awareness campaigns?

What are the symptoms? Sure I could google them, but I couldn't tell you off the top of my head what the symptoms are for prostate or testicular cancer, I've never seen those reported widely. I can tell you the symptoms for breast cancer, painful sub-surface lumps, the importance of HPV vaccines and cervical screening.

Where is the mass media awareness, it's actually practically non-existent.

Let's assume your assertion is correct (it isn't, but let's go with it)

Who do you think is to blame for that?

Those that try to stifle the question would be a good place to start.

Men don't care about their own health - HTH

I'm a case in point. I'm 46, I last went to the doctors aged 11. The last time I had any sort of medical check was at a Navy medical when I was 18. We moved to a new area four years ago, I'm yet to register with a GP. I am not unusual.

That's the point …… you grow a moustache, tell all of your friends and colleagues about the issues and raise money. That's what a couple of fellas at work and I did. After we'd all done it by email we had a cake sale at work and raised some more money and handed out info on the topic. So you can do it too, rather than expect others to do it. That's how awareness raising works. Do you want the government to do TV ads on this stuff?

As has been previously noted, men are generally far less interested in their own health, are reluctant to talk about with with their peers, and therefore less likely to engage in public awareness and fund-raising campaigns than women are...and like it or not, it isn't some female or leftie conspiracy - it's a male characteristic. If you're worried enough about it, get out there and do something about it, rather than waiting for someone else to do it for you.

The single biggest killer of men under 45 has recently had a campaign started in association with such luminaries as Lad Bible to provide help for those who might be suffering.

But it's not very glamorous and you won't have thousands of people wearing pink tutus or t-shirts jogging through your city to raise funds to help prevent it.

Why do you suppose that breast cancer gets so much coverage and charity money? It's because boobs are sexy and sexy things are easy to market. With the best will in the world, prostrates and suicides are not sexy.

This isn't the fault of women or lefties, or even lefty women, it's the fault of marketing men (and by and large they will be men).
