Trump suggests 'rogue killers' to blame

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-45863...

Investigators will search the building in Istanbul later on Monday, the Turkish foreign ministry says. A group of cleaners was seen entering earlier.

Eh?

Cleaners? Good to see the Turks have established a hard perimeter around the potential crime scene...

That's the front door of the Saudi consulate?

I thought it was some kind of private members strip club.

some interesting movements going on in and out of there if you see Ragıp Soylu's posts - https://twitter.com/ragipsoylu

They flew a forensics specialist in with the hit squad. I'm sure they spent a lot of time cleaning. Not your average domestic job. I very much doubt the Turks can do much. It's Saudi sovereign soil. They enter by invitation. The World knows he was killed. The King may have plausible deniability. Not sure that matters.

Saudi / Turkish team visiting the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul seems like just conducting a visual inspection, since no one has protective clothing and police equipment along with them.

Way to preserve a crime scene. Fire the cleaners in and then pop in for a quick visual.

Without doubt Trump is a fan of my posts.......

Without doubt somebody has been exceptionally stupid within the Saudi regime. Heads will roll I suspect within the security services. Un-authorised operations, somebody misunderstood instructions, blah, blah, blah. Then business as usual.

That Twitter account is very interesting. Takeaways include:

- trial run the day before the "incident" to check if the van would fit in the underground garage;
- lots of people leaving with potential evidence;
- cleaners just before the inspection;
- only just now has the area been cordoned-off

Whilst I realise that the consulate itself is sovereign turf, can those coming/going not be searched? I realise also there are some rules around "the diplomatic bag" but equally I'm pretty certain those rules have enough inherent flexibility after the infamous Nigerian-in-a-packing-crate event, don't they?

You need to give Trump a day or two to clarify if he "mis-spoke"

Looks like the Saudis are now going to say he was accidentally killed?

https://edition.cnn.com/

So trump was played?

CNN reports that the Saudis are preparing to admit that Khashoggi was killed as a result of "interrogation that went wrong"

It was literally just earlier today that Trump claimed that the Saudis denied that he was killed.

What kind of interrogation needs a bone saw bringing in on a flight with a 15 man team?

Why did Trump send Pompeo. It’s likely he was told the version of the truth. The King said he played no part in it nor ordered it. That’s not denying they killed him. I assume the claim is accidental.

Saudi Ambassador to Jeremy Hunt said:
Yes it’s a tragedy that Jamal Khashoggi died during interrogation

And I know you have experienced a similar tragedy when Baha Mousa died during British interrogation

Yes of course we will investigate fully and decide whether to bring charges against the interrogators

But I believe no one was found guilty of killing Mousa, and I’m sure no one will be found guilty of killing Khashoggi either

Good day to you

If the likes of Lindsey Graham is saying this (3.41) then perhaps things are finally changing in Washington when it comes to the current Saudi regime.

It will be an accidental dismembering. Could happen to anyone.
