What kind of interrogation needs a bone saw bringing in on a flight with a 15 man team?
It will be an accidental dismembering. Could happen to anyone.
Very Blackadder - accidentally cut his head off whilst combing his hair?

WWE are scheduled to hold a big event there on the 2nd, and the last time they did it was a pretty repulsive PR stunt where they aired adverts on how wonderful the Crown Prince is and how he's changing Saudi life for the better. The pressure to pull out is intense, and whilst they are still promoting it they've removed all references as to where it's taking place. Given that the CEO's wife is one of Trump's advisers, it will be interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks

I hate the twitterverse. Why can’t they reveal this elsewhere? Somewhere with more gravitas.

Christ. Now they’re saying the cutting started before the sedation. Took seven minutes to die.

Saudi press now going for the Putin defence: Al Arabiya says that Tubaigy (sp?), the forensics bloke, was "an ordinary tourist," according to this article: https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/how-saudi-media...

Gulf Arab royals can be partial to a bit of power-mad torture. If you have a strong stomach: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eL0rXXDWrQ - UAE royal who was ... somehow cleared of the crime. Who'd've thunk?

Anyone remember the furore over the Death of a Princess drama-documentary?

I'd forgotten about that video of the attack. And seriously, that's NSFW and pretty nasty even out of work...

Quite a good article on the legalities and likely geo-politics: https://www.lawfareblog.com/what-international-law...

Basically, Erdogan is using this to (re)build support. It's an ill wind, etc...

Maybe because we haven't actually seen any genuine hard evidence yet ... just reports that "x, y or z are saying that" or "....have evidence of".

Not defending the Saudis who are a repulsive regime, but this whole affair is really suspect.

Erodgan's regime is hardly an avatar of Human Rights or journalistic freedom yet it is driving the accusations and no one is pointing out the hypocrisy. The Saudis have been massacring civilians in their thousands in Yemen for years with hardly a squeak out of the Western political establishment or much outrage from the mass media, yet suddenly there's nothing but condemnation of one more murder all over the media. And there is as yet no actual evidence shown to the public that that Saudis have killed him (although it does look likely that he has been at the least abducted and they are prime suspects).

This really stinks of a political game. I hope we get to the bottom of what has actually happened and if Khashoggi has been murdered as would appear to be the case, his actual killers (including those who planned and ordered the operation) are brought to justice.

Looks like they've found their fall guy.

Ah, so are they going to claim that the Consul thought that by doing this (of his own volition) he would somehow curry favour with the high command by making one of their "problems" just go away...? scratchchin

What's going on now is a political game. In recent months MBS has taken to spending more time on his $500,000,000 yacht with mercenary security instead of being in the bosom of his very large family. This is just his latest disaster. Trump really does not want to see $audi relations fall to pieces. Erdogan wants more influence internationally.

But I don't think who killed Khashoggi is unknown.

I think the Royal Family members he held hostage in a hotel until they did what he wanted them to do might be supportive of a regime change, there's bound to be more who might want the current crown prince removed from office too. Wouldn't be the first time.
