OK, so if the McDonald's statement is evidence that the incident happened as described, does anyone know the melting point of a brass neck?
Any spare brews could be used for damping down or cooling down brass necks..... If any brass necks were still present.
Either way it's a great worry in these troubled times.

It certainly confirmed that the McDogbits was not the nearest source of refreshments, and that there was no need for the firefighters to go wandering to find refreshments anyway.
Maybe those particular water fairies preferred McDonalds or needed a Mc Flurry to help cool down after the walk to get there.Dave. said:
There's around 14 articles on yorkpress....
"Incident" happened in the early hours of Sunday morning, maccys was the only place still open, after the welfare unit had left...
The firefighters had £20 between them, and asked for 16 hot drinks, they were about £6 short...
So they left...
That doesn't confirm anything either way."Incident" happened in the early hours of Sunday morning, maccys was the only place still open, after the welfare unit had left...

Poses more questions than answers.
Welfare unit left when refreshments still required!!!!
£6 short at McDonald's?
Why not take what you can pay for and share? Ask for a few spare cups.
Why walk away when you've allegedly trampled a fair way with nothing when you can't stump up the total bill.
I guess we are still way off the whole truth.
Not that it really matters it's down to the FB to get themselves properly organised.
Perhaps someone reliable from Trumpton or McDonald's will furnish the true story in due course.

So they had the funds to buy 12 drinks ?"Incident" happened in the early hours of Sunday morning, maccys was the only place still open, after the welfare unit had left...

They could have shared and treated it as a team building exercise.
Or rooted 'round in the bins, found some used cups and divvied up the coffee equally.
It's a fail for the squirters on the basis that they didn't use their initiative.
Frankly, I expect more from our emergency services.

I couldn't agree more. Whatever the full facts behind the situation it's a complete PR disaster for the Water Fairies. They could have shared and treated it as a team building exercise.

As per the York Press articles they are now digging a bigger hole for themselves by saying they had a welfare unit on site.
If so it didn't do a very good job if staff had to go trawling retail outlets for a brew.
IF they were £6 short for a full house but walked away with nothing then they couldn't have been that desperate.
If an emergency service can't organise their refreshment services properly or improvise or use initiative then God help us all.

I don't really care either way to be honest, its a non-story. Just reiterating the "facts" as they've been reported, not guesses and hearsay that's made the majority of this thread/Facebook/comments sections of the yp site.
Agreed but something's gone on and it's rather worrying that someone in authority from Trumpton has not come forward and killed the story with the correct facts to prevent the adverse publicity such.articles cause the FB and make it sound like a third world service that can't even organise or pay for a few life saving brews and doughnuts.Volvo1956 said:

I was being sarcastic.
I agree it's a non-story though.
Why go to McDonalds in the first place if you haven't got any money ?
Freeloading chancers, the lot of 'em !

Well known as being tight gits.
Trying to bleed McDonald's dry.
I wonder if they'd provide 20 brews free of charge if me and my cyclist mates turned up at their gaff.
Don't Mcdonalds still operate a system where you collect six tokens from cups and then get a free one? So if they had enough for 12 they could have then got two free leaving a two cup shortfall?
edit: Just to add, a regular Tea in McDonalds costs 99p so if they had £20 and only needed 16 drinks how did they not have enough to buy everyone a brew?
