That shouldn't really matter, should it?

Could his deputy/deputies not do as good a job (or better) till replaced.

So you want a former far-right activist and workplace bully to remain.

The fact you want him to stay only goes to prove he isn't independent, as he should be, and therefore he should go.

Why? Lindsay Hoyle is perfectly capable.

Very unlikely - the average man only lives until they are approx. 75..

I just received an email regarding the delay of a gov website petition being debated upon for the following reason:

The Petitions Committee has decided to postpone the debate on air ambulance funding to Monday 25 November. This is due to the need for MPs to be present in and around the Chamber to vote during the election of a new Speaker of the House of Commons on 4 November.

Of course they could, and they would certainly eat up less Parliamentary time than someone who is totally in love with the sound of his own voice.

Johnson and Bercow must have been separated at birth.

Pretty much what more and more folk are saying here. The damage being done to 'our' democracy will set precedents that have taken a thousand years to devolve into and will stay with us as a hindrance to most but, more importantly, will become a bag of useful spanners that only fit crooked hands. We have been made a laughing stock by the refusers but even more so by the Speaker (with a forked tongue).

One day I will decode your post.

In the meantime, I have it in good authority that Bercow is taking up a post in the editorial team at the BBC and will be a figurehead in their forthcoming election coverage.

Excellent.
They should bring back the swingometer and he could present it in his excellent and totally impartial manner

Main Presenter: That's a conservative hold what's the swing John
JB 6% but we shouldn't read too much into that as the rival candidates were all new"

Shouldn't be allowed. Ministers can't take posts after leaving unless otherwise approved for 6 months (?)
