I dont want a government to "protect me from corporations"

I am quite capable of having a balanced diet without them meddling.

You might well be, but the data suggests that the vast majority of the population aren't - otherwise we wouldn't be seeing record levels of obesity, obesity related diseases, type 2 diabetes etc

The vast majority of people that I meet arent obese, data cant always be trusted. And people dont want the government meddling.

Anyway, this thread is about extremists, not diets!

The vast majority of people I meet aren't Australians, so clearly the data on the number of Australians in the U.K. can't be trusted. Or Fat, or Poor etc

Merely pointing out that just because you rarely meet fat people doent mean they don't exist. In the same way I'm not denying the existence of Australians because I rarely run into them in my local ;-)

Or in summary - data usually trumps anecdotal evidence.

Lol. Why are so many people on pistonheads unable to accept statistics that don't align with their tiny view of the world around them?

And people clearly do want the government meddling, they keep electing meddling governments!

Data is only worth while if it has been collected in a good way.

Stand outside FatFighters on a Thursday night and count fat vs thin people....and guess what....most people are fat!

Unsurprisingly the NHS are pretty transparent about how the data is collected, they're not standing outside anywhere in particular on a given night

Fair enough. But this isnt a thread about fat people, its a thread about extremists.

So vegan has nothing to do with diet? Just because I'm sure I saw it the thread title.

Yes, veganism is a diet. But this thread isnt about dieting. Its about nutters who push their beliefs onto others.

Veganism is not a diet. There are plenty of different diets a vegan may eat, all of them plant-based.

Veganism is the belief that all sentient life is deserving of holding dominion over itself and therefore avoiding contributing to the killing and exploitation of animals in any form.

To be fair there would be no sentient life on planet Earth without animals exploiting and killing each other. It’s literally how life works.

No. Why would a diet mean I don't go to SeaWorld, buy leather products or purchase pets?
