A low-mileage petrol 3008 is up for sale near me.

It’s a 2010 model year, good spec, private seller.

Am I completely out of my mind for considering it? We need to sell our diesel as from February I can’t drive it into Frankfurt city centre.

Thanks all for any advice!

A friend of ours had one. Perfectly reliable but was written off after some very light damage (someone reversed into him) to the front bumper, wing & door. It wasn't the cost of the repair, but there was a massive delay in getting hold of the parts so the hire car charges ended up being factored in & the car was written off.

Providing it has a good history (especially if it is the 1.6 Hdi) and doesn't have the hateful EGC automated manual gearbox then it should be ok.

It's the 120 petrol, 1.5 I think.

I have to get a petrol this time round because of a new emission control zone in Frankfurt that excludes older diesels.

To bring this thread to a dull conclusion:

Viewed it today, the car was spotless inside and out - not a mark on it, remarkable really. It drove nicely in a dull, underpowered petrol sort of way. In fact, it drove better than the Pug 308 I had as a hire car in March, which was dreadful.

The interior is a (surprisingly) nice place to be.

I bought it. €3600. About half the price of the equivalent petrol. We will see if it proves reliable. No more Diesel-related worries for us here in Deutschland!
