Including advocating violence to their political opponents & armed insurrection? He has done both.

I have news for you- their job is to legitimately hold the government of the day to account for their actions.

This government clearly doesn't need anyone to make them look a shambles. I'd still say it's CMD to blame though, rather than TM.

Being honest I think you are just one of the people on PH who want to distract from the complete debacle of a government we have by pointing a finger elsewhere. That's why the Corbyn and Diane Abbott threads roll-on.
Eh? My question was about John McDonnel and what people thought about his rather strange militant behaviour. I don’t deny the current government have members in their ranks who are also a bit odd but for me he stands out.

If you are a fan of him and Corbyn and feel offended, I apologise.

I can assure you it wasn't.

I've always thought he is totally contemptuous of what it takes to run a modern well adjusted society. He's a throwback to dangerous times.

I'm amazed he has any support at all, even amongst left wingers.
The problem is lots of people will only vote one way regardles of the person/parties intents.

I recent posted on here that John McDonnell wanted to bring down capitalism. A supporter said it was bullst, when pointed a a direct quote they said it was misquoted. When pointed to his who's who entry they said politicians change when in power.

Some people cannot even be swayed by a direct quote from the horses mouth.

McDonnell is one of a handful of politicians I can't stand.

Lammy
Abbott
Corbyn
Soubry

are the others. I'm sure there are some more, just not quite as annoying as that lot.

McDonnell would, in my view, be a very dangerous individual if ever he got his paws on the levers of power. His true views are very likely still deeply Marxist, he’s utterly illiterate in terms of economics and the damage to our economy (and indeed way of life) would be massive if he was allowed to pursue his current policies. Business would move away from the UK, public sector borrowing would reach unsustainable levels, we’d have run away inflation and unemployment and a debt crisis. In getting there the government would get increasingly desperate for funds and by the time we reached crisis point we’d have a tax rates that were closer to confiscation than taxation. He is however a way better politician than Corbybn and is prepared to say anything at all to get into power. The other issue is that overly simple messages (eg tax the rich to solve all ills) do resonate with some parts of the electorate. That he and the current labour front bench are this close to the levers of power is both amazing and terrifying. A general election is however, in my view, still unlikely.

It takes a special kind of financial incompetence to be fired by Ken Livingstone.

You implied he was the biggest tt in politics. Was I only supposed to participate in the thread if I agreed with you?

AIUI the thread was about individuals in politics, compared to & contrasted with McDonnell.
It's not a thread about generalities of government.

Fully agree that McDonnell is a dangerous , the worst of a bad lot in Labour at the moment (Corbyn is the puppet of the faceless "Momentum" movement, and Abbott is a vegetable). But would also say that a lot of Tories come close at the moment, they seem hell bent on giving McDonnell a better shot at getting into a position of power.

I couldn’t care less to be honest, certainly not enough to argue with you on the subject.

PH Brexiteers have played their part in getting Labour into power ASAP, it would seem.

Ah …. he agreed with you. OK, if you want and individual, Boris Johnson. For contributing nothing but hassle to the whole Brexit process. And he was part of the governmet, which means his trouble making really means something.

How can I put this? That's a bunch of vague, unspecific waffle.

McDonnell has demanded armed insurrection as democracy doesn't suit him.

Dianne Abbot regularly shows herself to have no grasp of whatever situation she is in such as suggesting 250k police officers then claiming the DJ said it- all recorded for posterity.

Corbyn says issuing bonds isn't borrowing providing one owns the bond.

These are specific complaints; "he gives hassle" is unsubstantiated verbiage.
